It's not even so much to own the libs.

It's an ego thing with Trump. He spent his days as 45 trying to erase the existence of Obama. And every time he couldn't, he'd promise to offer something better and then just forget about it and move on.

It's kind of left-wing of Trump when you think about it. It's always the lefties who are throwing rocks at the Google buses, because they'd rather make life crappy for everyone than allow a subset of people to improve their standards of living. Because that would be inequitable.

Trump is kind of an exception to the lefty rule here, backsliding standards in the country for everyone. But not because some subgroup found a way to live to a better standard. Rather, it's just for the sake of undoing some other president's work. In a similar way that Putin believes he can make Russia more relevant by using disinformation campaigns to knock down Europe and the U.S.
