and apparently trump expects canadian, mexican companies to suddenly move their manufacturing, production to murica to avoid the tariffs (which the importers pay anyway)

either they already have some deals in place (which is unlikely, factories aren't easy to move and won't happen overnight anyway) or this is just plain stupidity and will drive inflation instantly. very unorthodox economic policy, needless to say, it would be a huge surprise if it worked. it will fuck up canadian and mexican companies though, so if that was the point then it'll be a great success

On one hand this is pretty obviously inflationary, but on the other hand I refuse to believe the businessmen around him will let him do something like this, and maybe a majority of the products are excluded from this? I don't know. I'm really curious to see how it'll unfold.
