That argument makes a lot more sense, and I agree with you. They are trying to cover too many sects of the market versus focusing on a niche area. However, they can't directly compete in certain areas because there are already established brands with more power.

Also, speak for yourself, big homie. I live in a snowy, mountainous region, I need a four-wheel drive vehicle. The fact it gets 7.25L:100km or has 745 NM of torque is just a bingo. I also do outdoorsy stuff like camp, hike, and shoot relatively often, and I can turn the back of the Jeep into a hard-shell tent pretty easily.

Not having to pack-up a tent makes everything so much easier.

I like your car. Don't get me wrong. And I'm sure it's great at a lot of things. But it's never going to be the rational choice. It's just too nice for it to be so.

I guess Tesla was mostly about the technology, but now they've lost that edge and they need to reposition. I wonder which direction they'll go.

Yes, but most electric cars are fast.

Though the brand is a bit for grandparents, I'd probably buy a Jaguar I-pace if I had to buy an electric luxury car right now.
those are good, honestly if I were to get an electric vehicle it would purely be for the tech nerd inside of me.

Cyber truck is gay. Lightning is cool but has power to range issues. Rivian has a solid product but it’s pricey.

my work ordered a lightning but it’s like a year out. Will be cool to try out when we get it.

There's a lot to be said about the moral cesspool that is Elon Musk and his empire, but honestly people shouldn't be buying Teslas because they're ugly anyway. They are easily the most horrible looking cars on the planet. Shiny plastic on wheels.
Exterior design is definitely the dumbest thing to complain about on a Tesla because at least they don't have the whole matchbox car 1000 fake styling elements 'we're ashamed to be an EV and larp as V12 biturbo monster'-starterpack

The fake design elements are stupid, I agree. But I don't really get why an EV needs to look futuristic either. The Model S for example just looks good. Model X and Y look like spaceships. Why can't they still look like cars?

This Audi has much more presence, while being over styled, but Tesla is just a generic looking EV (look at all Chinese copycats) and it is made to look like this mainly because it is easier to manufacture (and aerodynamics).
If everyone applies the same principles in the future we will hardly be able to distinguish between different brands. People now complain constantly about all cars looking the same and Teslas are among the blandest designs possible.

Though if it were all aerodynamics, cars would look backwards. You want a long tail and a short hood.

Yes, but if cars look like teardrops hardly will anyone be excited and also I think the current shape is better from safety point of view. Mercedes EQXX looks as much as possible close to a teardrop for a modern car and it is not the best looking thing, if I am being honest.
