There were millions of people and thousands of protests. 7% of that can still be a lot of violence and damage not to mention surrounding crime etc. that wasn't counted as violence by them but is a product of social unrest and law enforcements inability to provide normal services.

I don't find that statistic anywhere near as reassuring as it was intended to be

Agreed. It’s also the major issue with a small percentage of very shitty cops destroying the public trust. But I think some ability to think rationally there and push for proper discipline and punishment for those behaving shitty, while upholding and rewarding the good ones as examples To be followed (and the same goes for rioters vs peaceful protestors which is why Trump Et al should shut the fuck up about telling those peacefully protesting to get out of the country and leave, or telling nfl owners to fire kneeling players, etc). Condemn those who deserve it.
