American politics don't seem to revolve around facts anymore though. The amount of lobbying and fear mongering happening there poisons every possibility for debate. I mean, there's no way you could argue against tougher gun control at this point. It's crystal clear that this is an issue. You have to be willing to lie time and time again if you're saying you think gun control is not the issue. But it's exactly what they do. They just lie. It doesn't matter.

To me this is so weird because in Europe we assume politicians lie, but when they're actually caught, that usually means their career is over. Or at least it is put on hold for a while.
