Of course it would, no doubt I'd like to see those brutal cops get what they deserve. But black lives matter hashtag suggests the protests are against police brutality against Black people, not really generally everyone
This is a very complicated issue with a long history in this country.

Many times that is the case. You have to keep in mind, segregation existed in parts of this country until the 1960s, most notably the south. I don't think it's unreasonable to believe that there are many people around that still hold beliefs based on racial hatred. And of course, this would very easily leech into law enforcement and politics as well, becoming entrenched and normalized. That's not to say every claim of racism is correct, but it's easy to see how such a thing could exist.

With this in mind, why do you really think a mayor of a city in the deep south would think this?

Is Russian propaganda so strong? I thought only Russians believe in that
Russians were smart to plant an overly criminal and violent demographic in America that despite making up 13% of the population amount to 52% of countrywide murder arrests and 40% overall countrywide violent crimes :agree:

Reason being that the National Guard is failing because the riots are going on?
Wait I just read your post again, are you asking why has the military not been deployed already? :p

Not all governors mobilized the National Guard yet, from what I understand it's not at the level where it's needed here. You have peaceful protesting and marching by normal people during the day, then once the sun goes down you get SOME fights. But even then, I don't know of many serious injures or inidents besides the few police cars that were on fire. It's not like Minnesota where you had whole buildings and police precincts on fire.

So many scumbags in the police in America.

I have a friend whose father and uncle are both recently retired cops from Texas. They said that wages haven’t gone up enough as the years passed, job conditions are worse, and training is inadequate, so the police force has been having trouble recruiting anyone decent in recent years.

And that problem will only get worse. I couldn't imagine being a cop, it would be the worst job in the world. You couldn't pay me a million dollars to be one. Your city hates you, wages suck, and now there are calls for them to be unarmed.

I think the only police "reform" that needs to occur, besides training and becoming less militarized, is finally put an end to the war on drugs. Legalize weed across the board everywhere, don't send black people to jail forever for stupid drug offenses, and control it in a means conducive where people can get help without fearing of going to jail.

@Kyle

This is what I mean when I say 5 years. Long-term, I see this as more of a unifying thing than a separating. After all of this, how many normal people do you think wouldn't agree to most of the above?

Just read up that apparently water cannons like this aren't a thing in America because of brutality :lol: They are very effective and don't kill anybody. Anyway, why does it take so long to get the military deployed? Clearly the police are out of their depth. Is it because Trump wants the riots to continue so he has a common enemy to show to his base before elections? Inexplicably weak and soft behaviour
Maybe bc even Trump isn't that much of a knee jerk and dumb
