Toyota and other import manufacturers are currently investing in manufacturing plants in America due to the incentives they get for by building it here and with the new tariffs in place. We can hold out as it only effects our GDP by little over 2% while other nations take major hit on their GDP, they wouldn’t last on a tariff war. Ref. 1:48 on the video.

These policies make domestic industry uncompetitive globally with artificial protections from competition (think US auto manufacturing in the 1980s), they hurt US exports, and they prevent Americans from economically benefitting from domestic specialization and leveraging cheaper imports.

If these were such genius economic ideas, why have all nations abandoned them since the 1980s? This is on the level of improving education by simply adding 50 points to every American's SAT score.
