What would have happened had Democrats been in charge, is a prolonging of the war with additional funding, continue to drain Russia through proxy and if a stalemate could be achieved on the battle field then a negotiation could take place where the Ukraine/West has some bargaining chips to play.
What trump is doing is he's given away all bargaining chips entirely which means ukraine will get the worst possible outcome in any negotiation. Ukraine was always going to be worse off than before the war, but Trump is ensuring they get the worst hand possible. Really dumb.
