Because the majority of his movies are worth watching. Rashomon, Ran and Yojimbo are great to name a few. I have a bunch at my hard disk that I haven't seen yet but all have got good reviews.

His name is reknown for a reason. I'll look for those names you mentioned, thanks.

I usually don't read plot synopsis before watching the movie and with Kurosawa you don't really know what to expect, sometimes it's an artistic visualization, others it's a sad drama and suddenly comes comedy. Try to look at Dreams as well, you might also enjoy it.

I just watched The Notebook for the first time and....it was lovely!

Seriously, this movie is great. Even with a cheesy, corny, heard-it-all-before-story, the movie still sucks you in completely. Oh and Rachel McAdams is absolutely adorable in the movie. :lick:

I think this just might be my favourite Romantic movie ever. If only it wasn't Elvin's as well. :frown:

You really should watch it, ASAP. I've heard of it before but I've never got around to watching it till now. They say it's the quintessential romantic movie and I would agree.
