Even though Mourinho is arrgogant, u guys have to admit that he is a very good coach. He knows wad is best for his players and makes substitution at the rite time. Think about it, without him Porto can win the league Cup, but ever since Porto is in his hands, he has led Porto won the League Cup, the UEFA Cup and the CL Cup. But even though he and his players r happy, he juz leashed a smile of satisfaction instead of celebrating with his players. I presumed that he is celebrating with his family.

Actually u can say that Mourinho "agitated" the Chelsea players when he got to Chelsea, saying "I have won the league Cup, the UEFA Cup and the CL Cup, u guys have won nothing." Sound like a prick, but actually this is wad spurred Chelsea into doing so well rite now. The players know wad they r aiming for and r committed to the team. Their hunger can be seen on the pitch.

About Sicily thing, we can juz say that he is ignorant since he juz talk **** when he never actually went to that place b4.

Truth, Morinho is a good coach but its is arrogant attiutude that make ppl dislike him (that includes me as well :p )

I didnt really impress by him yet.. given that with the abundance of money and talent he had, Chelsea should be chasing for both CL and EPL...

And Porto route to CL winners wasnt really impressive... A final with Monaco? well, they did managed to beat Manu, but Manu is really out of sort at that time ...

In fact Chelsea r oing wad u mentioned.
At least the route to the 2002/2003 UEFA Cup should speak the results.

I didn't mind wad he said, cos he has the ability to prove that he can handle the job

Fred, shouldn't you be hating Mourinho, as he will make Chelsea THE London Club?

I read an interview in World Soccer in which Mourinho was asked many questions about his job as Chelsea manager and his experiances. He was asked if he knows that he seems arrogant, and why he puts on such a face in front of the media. Mourinho responded by saying that the before and after game press conferences are "part of the game." He said he feels the need to "knock players down when they are on a high," and "lift players of when they are on a low." I must say he has not done much of the latter, and in the case of Joe Cole ,Mourinho seems to be very demanding. From my perspective after reading this interview is that Mourinho holds team success in a higher regard than individual success, and cares not about the players, only how they are performing. This might be a good way of handling the 'team' cause, but the pressure put on the players is fairly extreme. I am sure I would not want to be part of Mourinho's regime.

How is that not impressive? Manchester United, Deportivo, and Monaco are all tough opponents. No matter how you win the Champions League, it is still a tremendous accomplishment.

Erado's just being irrational here. Nothing can take away Porto's feat last season.
Kinda like Korea doing well in the World Cup, or Greece winning the Euros.
It's still the same tourney, and you go thru the history books a few decades down the line...
No one's gonna say they were a weak team.

P.S Anyone ever heard of the Soviet Union - 1960?

Amen, Andy.

And please, let us not dwell too much on how much of an accomplishment this would be for Juve.

come on, look back...

I too agreed that Morinho is a good coach, nothing takes away from his success...

IMO seriously, its wasnt really that impressive without meeting the likes of Real Madrid, Barcelona, Juventus, Milan.. well, maybe thats jus my thought...

Real Madrid was beaten by Monaco, who Porto beat in the Final. Deportivo beat Juventus and Milan respectively, but then lost to Porto. Do you see where your arguement is not adding up? The teams you listed where obviously not the best teams in Europe last year. Simple as that. Give credit to Porto because they were the best team in Europe last season, no question.

Just a difference of opinion... last season, I was strongly convinced (by the time they got past ManU) that Porto was capable of defeating the likes of Milan, Juventus, Real Madrid, and Barca. At least last year's versions of all those teams. Which is saying less than usual in all but Milan's case, but Porto was arguably the best team in Europe last season by standards other than the Champions League tournament trophy.

After winning against the likes of PSG, CSKA Moskva, and a pathetic Porto side, I would not look too much into that. Once Chelsea plays Bayern Munich or somebody of the same calibre, come back to me.
