Montreal is simply amazing! Here are my notes...
The city: has taken the best of American and European cultures. Excellent place to visit, and probably to live too. K10, I think you've made a mistake by not going there.
The people: extremely nice. Even though it's a French city, everybody speaks English, even the homeless! (I had a conversation with one). But what I liked most about the people- is how they dress. No girls wearing pijamas and guys walking around in sports suites.
The music: sad, but people there mostly listen to American commercial stuff- alternative, country and R&B. I expected the Canadians (and particularly younger generation) to be more into European directions.
The clubs: inferior to those of large European cities, but much better than what I get here in upstate NY. What really pissed me off was that best places play R&B in prime time. Me and my buds did find this one place which played some commercial trance, but as soon as the place got filled up they switched to R&B, and I just left (for strip clubs).
Strip clubs: very nice. I went to a couple, and totally enjoyed it. Did not stay too long though as those places are a rip-off (like anywhere else).
Shopping: oh my God! Montreal is a shopping paradise! Among our group of 20 there were six members in my "team"- a girl from the UK, one from Germany, myself, and three guys: Germany, Holland and France. We shopped our asses off in some 50 hours we were there. Quality, style and variaty were simply amazing! Sergio- you were 100% right.
Roads: suck, American roads are much better.
Overall rating- 8/10 (very high by my standards)
Ups: nice people, beautiful city, prices low, shopping is great, you will get to learn French if you lived there.
Downs: no dance music, football is aired just like in the US- early afternoon.
Will have the pictures soon!
