So fasting might slow down his recovery.
If he is injured, he doesn't have to fast.

i don't see bayern complaining about how ribery's performance is going down or abramovic moaning about anelka's fasting. even mine workers are fasting hundreds of meters underground so running and kicking a ball should not be so difficult.

But their performance does go down. Ribery will still be good, but not as good as he can be. If fasting made you a better player, Ribery would fast all the time.

oh, fasting doesn't improve one's performance in fact. Workers may be good even with fasting all day long, but it would decrease their body strenght. And they'd become more tired and exhasted even though still performing excellent.
It matters for a high class soccer player. Fatigue may decrease their ability over time.

it's true, as a basketball player I can say that in Ramadan is much more harder to play, the good things is your stomach is empty and you can run more, but you have less strength... but it's just a month... it's better to fast a month, be religious or like the other type of players who go clubbing, drink, go after prostitutes...

Juventus took this into account when they acquired him. There won't be any performances this time anyway. As far as Sissoko goes, I just hope he recovers soon. We need the ANIMAL.
