Here's a question. When he married the 5th one, where was the islamic authority then? Or the 20th, or the 60th. How do you marry 82 times too often and only then get a letter in the mail?

My guess is that he was so loyal to the local authority that they didn't want to see anything illegal in his marriages. It seems the rope of love was cut between him and the authorities, and as a result, they started to check his weaknesses.
