Alot of problems with the closing and merging of threads of late,i've noticed.

feel free to post suggestions here guys:)

i don't think anyone here contests the closing of threads in the transfer forum without sources(tribalfootball aside;) personally i've got an idea you guys could consider regarding closing unproductive threads.

if it's just a case of the thread going OT or the discussion not leading anywhere insightful,i think you could give it a second chance with a warning of sorts to kick start discussions again instead of closing them outright, which is what i've seen a couple of times with threads which actually could have gone somewhere useful.

:)

The truth is, very few threads have a discussion interesting enough to go on for pages and pages, and the fact that most if not all threads end up going off-topic is a clear indication of this. If a bunch of threads were kept open just incase a good discussion started, I think there'd be handfuls of garbage threads full of people making lame attempts to start a good conversation. As for giving threads a chance... just incase you haven't noticed, a lot of threads are given multiple chances to get back on-topic ;)

Thanks a lot for the input Des, I'd like to hear what everyone has to stay about this

I think moderation has been going quite well so far.

Gray's right- other than continuous threads as Seria A or the Champions Leage- all threads will go off topic eventually. I don't think it's too big of a problem, cause sooner or later they do burn out.

I just closed the Post Pictures of Your Life thread. I'd given it a warning, but it had degenerated into a rambling discussion on porn. Martin's bandwidth deserves better.

we have to be selective of course, because i've seen a number of threads which could've led somewhere interesteing closed without notice.

i don't actually have a problem with the moderation here,i just thought we could use a proper space to discuss related issues.

it's just a suggestion, you guys do what you think best:)

    Now this shouldn't happen.

Mikhail, you could have at least given a warning or asked people to stop.

This discussion has been on for quite a few days, and now you show up and bluntly close the entire thread which had close to 100 pages.

I gave that thread two warnings, and made a couple of attempts to get it back on track. You have to have a cut-off point, and that one reached mine. Are you really argueing the merits of a rambling discussion on porn? It wasn't even interesting, just people being random and chatty around a subject.

Just make a new thread. When a threads closed that dosent mean it cant be remade. Why do people get so bugged out about a thread being closed? Take alook at it. We were talking about porn movies and complete random crap, before that was arguments between me and Lilli. Im suprised it lasted that long.

I was expecting, "Send you pictures to Nick around 100 times and then he will post it for you"

Well if a thread is closed, and someone goes and remakes it, what sense does that make?

heh nah that only works against deadbrains. And its been overdone anyway.

Well true, but if someone has pics and reopens it, it becomes relevent again.
