The new season is under way in the States, and everybody is anticipating the prospect of Beckham lighting up the pitch once his Real season ends. DC United has started the season off with two losses, looking absolutely horrid last night at RFK. Thus far the level of football being displayed has been horrendous, but as the season goes on the clubs improve and finish on the pitches in a respectable manner. Forza US football.

Mods, if you can, please make this thread a sticky. We have all the leagues here except the one in my own country.

Nick should be unbanned, no doubt.

But the stadiums will be crazy when Becks comes over to the states. I know for sure I will get tickets for the first LA Galaxy - United match.

So teams cant get relegated, right? And plus, there's a team called Toronto FC.Does the MLS have teams from Canada too?
Yup...Toronto FC. I know what you're thinking, but give me a chance. They had a poll for a team name and I'm almost 100% sure that the team lied about Toronto FC being chosen by the majority. It's MLS' way of trying to European-ize the league to make it look more credible. Personally, I think it's means for ridicule.

    I agree.

We have no identity, REAL salt lake, Hoiuston DYNAMO....it's a joke.
Shit, eh? Never noticed the Houston Dynamo thing. That's pretty funny. I'd pay lots of money for someone to find a Russian/Ukrainian/Former Soviet in Texas.

To tell you the honest truth, I'd rather have a shark or a lightning bolt on the front of a jersey than have these elaborate crests that they copped from teams with glorious histories.

I don't know Burke. It seems to be catching on and people are buying into it, so it can't be a bad thing for soccer in North America.

I actually think the MLS could be huge in 10-15 years time.Beckham isnt retired. He still has a bit to offer.Del Piero expressed a desire to play in the MLS,and the number of players who'd want to go to the US for football in the future will only increase.Sure,at this time the only european players who might be interested in going there are ones who are past their prime and are simply looking for a fresher experience to end their careers on,but im sure that the number will increase.I think it'll take a great performance by the US national team in the World Cup to boost their league's credentials. The have a good team that plays with a lot of heart, and if they keep on doing that, and if luck stays with them, they could do well at the biggest stage of them all.
