I like Matri, but I think he's better suited to playing alongside a forward in a 4-4-2. Vucinic does this lone forward business better, he gets involved and his link up play with certain midfielders can be very good at times. He's also got dribbling ability to create chances for himself, while Matri doesn't compare with that. Consistency is what we need from him.

And by the way, did anyone see Matri getting ready at ~70 minutes into the game? The camera zoomed in on Vucinic and he was looking over and saw what was going on, and it looked like he upped his work rate from then.

Well, fair point in a way, but if the midfield plays with the same intensity, then with Vucinic's sublime ability upfront, the goals will inevitably come. He was extremely unlucky not to have a goal or two. Plus, he links and creates ridiculously well. I wouldn't have thought he could do it alone as CF, but he can and did.
If you miss the goal, even slightly it's not about luck. It's all in the players own hands. Being clinical in those situations is what it's about to be a 20+ goals scorer (which Vucinic will never be). Vucinic is a great player and definitely should be starter for us since his link up play and overall skills are magnificent. but we need to start getting one of our big guns (Quag / Matri) in shape.

Caught that too. Looked like he didn't want to come off and maybe Conte let him stay. Not sure what happened.

yes, his reaction/saying something also I thought was indicative of his unhappiness at being subbed at that point, purely speculative though
