But if I do open certain threads and see posts that break the rules, I'll give infractions for them. As for the specific post that I warned you for, it wasn't just that post but the general carrying on which culminated in the petty insults.

You're basically saying "police every single post on the forum or don't do any moderation at all", which is unreasonable and illogical. Also, you might want to look up the definition of 'hypocrite' if you think giving you an infraction for that post makes me one.
