superb day guys. just had dinner with the family, back here at home after work.

wore my Juve jersey all day at work. had 3 people say things.

one guy said "newcastle" in a question like aspect, and we talked about EPL after I told him it was Juventus, and bragged about beating Milan.

this other guy said Juventus, in a question like manner, and im like yep, and hes like, ya del piero, i thought thats what it was, i remember now. haha, good stuff

another guy had this like holland jersey or something on, and just sort of nodded when he saw me, and this other guy said nice shirt.

so 4 comments in about a 8 hr span isnt too bad. for irvine, california. a place where soccer is definately not the norm.

gonna show the bro the goal now. hes been waiting for it. honestly the greatest Del Piero assist EVER!!!!

If the first leg match against Milan won a great deal of superlatives, the second leg is likely to run out of words in the dictionary. The match with the Rossoneri has always been exciting in itself but this year it may be worth more than three points.
Those who want the Italian championship to be radically modified, to the extent of introducing play-offs and a super-final, may be satisfied this season as Milan vs Juventus, like never before, is a decisive match. The two teams have set up a pressing duel for months and have come to the direct clash four matchdays before the end side by side on top of the table, meeting in a match that may really assign the Scudetto.

With the only exception for Lazio and Roma, in the last few years the Scudetto has been reserved to Juventus and Milan who, however, had never come to such an exciting nip and tuck and to a match that looks like a showdown.

Well, this was truly it. I have seen the match in a little Sportsbar and was screaming so loud when Del Piero made that WICKED assist and Trez hit it home.
It was just a perfect game, as we controled the first half, and were defending superb. The middle of the pitch was blocked and Pirlo even got substituted, because Appiah and Emerson didn't let him do anything. Cannavaro and Thuram were great too, although Thuram made some reckless passes in the first half, but was a the known world-class defender in the scond half.

Hopefully, Camoranesi`s injury is not too serious. He showed what a great footballer he is and if anyone says again, that we need Joaquin or any other Don Juan, he should just shut up.
Nedved was not as good today, as I had expected him to be, and we need a replacment for him. Not that I want him out of Juve, but a young player who can sub him at matches.

All in all I am really satisfied, because Juve turned out to be a complete team. Great attacking play and world-class defending.

On the two actions were Milan wanted to have a penalty, I have to say.........................TRY BETTER!

It's three matchdays away from the end of the season. Juventus, with their three-point advantage over Milan, is meeting Parma home at Delle Alpi next Sunday then Livorno away and the last match home again against Cagliari. The Rossoneri will first play at Lecce then home against Palermo and finally at Udine.

That assist was wicked, and wholly worthy of the goal we got and ultimately being the difference in the game. For everything else, we had an answer for it.

I have all the respect in the world for Sheva, but I was starting to wonder when Canna blocked him out in the Juve penalty box on a free kick in the first half and Sheva went down like a wet tuna. No charity here, folks. And the irony was that I thought that while Sheva was out of the field of play anyway, and didn't have position, he would have done his team a far better favor by playing through Canna's block and getting himself in position for a possible rebound shot on goal ... instead of flopping helplessly in the hopes of some referee charity giveaway. Again, Forza Collina for showing great restraint. :thumb: Yet contrast Sheva with Kaka, who I thought did a nice job of playing through fouls and was not out to seek a cheaply awarded penalty kick as his answer to Juve's lead.

But what a team effort for us too. There were great contributions from smaller players too... for example, I thought Pessoto did a great job off the bench.

The win at San Siro was a splendid and much deserved one for Juventus. Capello’s side won and dominated the crucial match of the year, scoring the winning goal with Trezeguet on 29’ minutes, after many other scoring occasions, like the crossbar hit by Del Piero. Now, three days away from the end, the Bianconeri are 3 points clear from Milan.

There’s a marvellous audience at San Siro to attend the great Scudetto challenge. In a sold-out venue, the Bianconeri supporters are a massive presence. Capello restored the Del Piero-Trezeguet partnership, fielding the Frenchman from the very first minute, for the first time after his ankle problems. Emerson is flanked by Appiah centrefield. Ancelotti leans on the attacking pair Shevchenko-Tomasson.
The game starts under a burning sun. The beginnning of the match is well balanced, although it’s Juventus who attack the most. Buffon gets a thrill when he must clear a shot by Shevchenko with his forearm on 19’ minutes but then it’s a one way game played by the Bianconeri. After 29 minutes it’s time for the deserved goal, after a game played with brains and great care. Del Piero moves forward to the left flank, crosses to the midfield, Gattuso hits back, the ball gets back to the Captain who serves Trezeguet with a reverse kick and the Frenchman heads it in. (0-1). Capello’s side gets close to a double score when, on 36’ minutes, Del Piero, served by Camoranesi, shoots a powerful drive from the edge of the box and Dida clears in a two-time intervention.

Milan start the second half attacking. After 7 minutes, Serginho, who replaced Pirlo, crosses to Cafu in the midfield but it ends out. Ancelotti substitutes Tomasson with Inzaghi, who gets dangerous on 12’ minutes: asssisted by Shevchenko, the former Bianconero sprints, Buffon comes off, the bounce favours the striker who, hindered by Zambrotta, cannot get to the ball which finally ends out of the field. Meanwhile, Camoranesi gets injures and must be replaced with Birindelli. After Milan missing such scoring occasion, Capello’s side get back to attack like in the first half and return in control of the game, in a really exciting match. On 17’ minutes, Trezeguet serves Emerson who hooks the ball but his left-footed shot hits the outside of the net. After 20 minutes, Juventus nearly doubles the advantage: after Birindelli’s free kick, Del Piero’s header hits the crossbar. Three minutes later, Shevchenko tries to head it in but he misses the goal. On 29’ minutes, Del Piero shoots a free kick from the left flank, the ball gets to Cannavaro, who deflects it in but the goalkeeper clears. On 32’ minutes, Zalayeta, who substituted Trezeguet, serves Nedved with a backheel and the Czech’s shot goes past the post. He tries again one minute later but this time Dida saves. Meantime, Ancelotti substitutes Seedorf with Rui Costa, while Capello replaces the injured Appiah with Blasi. On 45’ minutes, it’s still Nedved in attack, and his drive, deflected in the box, is countered by Dida. In the extra time, Milan go for the last attempts to goal but Juventus is attentive and take the three golden points home.

Milan 0 - 1 Juventus
Trezeguet 28 (J)
Stadio Giuseppe Meazza

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

David Trezeguet's header from a spectacular Alessandro Del Piero cross has given Juve all three points in the Scudetto showdown at the San Siro.

This was the Day of Reckoning - Milan and Juventus had been locked together at the top of the standings for two months and came head to head at the San Siro. The odds were slightly in favour of the Rossoneri, whose Coach Carlo Ancelotti was unbeaten in home games against Fabio Capello and who had no injury worries going into the tie, while Juve were without Jonathan Zebina, Alessio Tacchinardi and suspended top-scorer Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

Milan were hammered 3-1 at PSV Eindhoven midweek, though that result still enabled them to reach the Champions' League Final on away goals. Massimo Ambrosini scored the late header, but was still relegated to the bench in favour of Clarence Seedorf. David Trezeguet had his first start since suffering an ankle injury over a month ago and partnered Alessandro Del Piero.

The Rossoneri had a strong start and Andriy Shevchenko was unable to make the most of Stephen Appiah's error.

There was danger for Juve on 19 minuts, as Sheva managed to get round the goalkeeper, but Gigi Buffon did enough to narrow the angle so that he couldn't get in a cross or a shot.

However, it was the Bianconeri who took the lead after 28 minutes with a well-worked goal. Alessandro Del Piero ran forward on the counter-attack and saw his first cross charged down, so he bicycle-kicked it for David Trezeguet's precise header.

Dida saved a promising Del Piero strike as Milan struggled to get back into the game after this heavy blow.

Carlo Ancelotti made some brave half-time changes, introducing Serginho for Andrea Pirlo and switching to a three-man defence. It made an immediate difference, as Milan were far more sprightly and Marcos Cafu's angled drive was just wide of the far post.

There was another change after 11 minutes, as former Juve star Pippo Inzaghi made his comeback from long-term injury worries by replacing Tomasson.

Within seconds he almost grabbed an equaliser. Shevchenko sprinted forward on the counter-attack and cut it across for Inzaghi. Buffon blocked his first effort with the underside of his thigh, then Gianluca Zambrotta stayed glued to him in order to push the second attempt round the post.

Shevchenko then volleyed Serginho's cross over the bar, then Emerson was only able to turn Trezeguet's cross on to the side-netting.

Juventus had the chance to put the game beyond doubt soon after, as a free kick was turned on to the crossbar by Del Piero's header and Trezeguet was unable to turn in the loose ball.

Ancelotti went for broke with Manuel Rui Costa taking over from Seedorf in a very creative midfield.

Moments later, Lilian Thuram missed Rui Costa's cross and Shevchenko's header was just over the bar.

Dida was attentive on Fabio Cannavaro's header from a Del Piero free kick, but there was controversy on 75 minutes. Cafu snatched the ball off Zambrotta inside the area and was held back by his jersey, but the referee waved away penalty appeals.

Soon after, Pavel Nedved's strike skimmed the target with Dida following its path.

There were further penalty appeals when Cannavaro flung himself at Cafu's shot and blocked it with his arm, but he was too close for it to be considered a voluntary foul.

Moments later, Inzaghi was closed down in the six-yard box by a combination of Thuram and Buffon, as Juve were hanging on for dear life in these closing stages.

The final minutes were a siege and Inzaghi's header from a corner kick was deflected into the grateful arms of Buffon.
