Juventus handed Abbiati option Wednesday 17 August, 2005

Milan have offered Juventus the services of goalkeeper Christian Abbiati as ‘compensation’ for the injury sustained to Gigi Buffon.
The Italian No 1 dislocated his shoulder in the 2-1 Trofeo Berlusconi loss to Milan on Sunday and the Rossoneri are remarkably ready to help out their rivals.
Reports in Italy on Wednesday insist that the club have offered Abbiati seeing as Buffon, who requires surgery, will be out for three months.
"It is an idea from (owner) Silvio Berlusconi," stated Milan Vice-president Adriano Galliani. "It would be a nice thing to do. We’ll see what happens."
Abbiati is himself an Italian international but has spent the last two seasons as reserve to Nelson Dida at the San Siro.
He did actually join Genoa earlier this summer in a bid to gain regular first team football, but that move has now been annulled given the Rossoblu’s demotion to Serie C.
However, Juventus do have another option in the shape of former Bianconeri ‘keeper Angelo Peruzzi.
The Old Lady have allegedly already made an enquiry to Lazio regarding a possible swoop, seeing as the Biancocelesti do have another top ‘keeper in the shape of Matteo Sereni on the bench.
Juventus could sign Peruzzi in a deal which also sees right-back Massimo Oddo move to the Delle Alpi.
Other contenders for the champions include Gianluca Pagliuca of Bologna, free agent Luca Marchegiani and Sereni.
