Beaten by 2 penalties, 1 well taken bottom corner goal, and 1 deflected shot in crowded penalty area.

Made a big save on a deflection.

On crosses, do you guys realize GKs these days are less and less willing to collect crosses? This is because the way modern balls have been developed. Balls are moving faster these days with unpredictability. Technology and rules are constantly being tweaked to offer strikers more chance to score.

His weight distribution was wrong on their 2nd as it was shifting across goal and then he couldn’t react in time as he was unsighted by the defender in my opinion.

Still may have not got there but feels like a basic thing that the greatest got right regularly for decades.

I know he conceded 4 but...
2 of them were penalties which he cant be blamed for.
The 4th goal wasnt something he could save and Makhitirian shot was very good so I doubt he could do much better. Perin might have saved it considering his last performance but then again we would be weaker since our game now also includes a ball playing GK in which D.G is certainly far superior to Perin.

The blame should go on the defense - Kalulu had his worst game (probably ever), Cabal did well with that pass and wasnt terrible but he also could have covered better, Danilo was simply horrible, Cambiasso did his best but honestly he is much better going forward than actually defending (he doesnt suck but he isnt great either)

The thing is - I have a theory in which Kalulu`s performance will also suffer from Bremer abscence and this too is a reason to get a high quality CB.

P.S if any GK could have done better and maybe save a shot its actually Sommer.

I didn’t state that goal or any other in this game were his fault. I just noted his weight was shifted the wrong way which reduced his chances of making a save there.

It’s his shakiness on the corners that are worrying. Twice he came out and was no where near the ball. Otherwise solid game overall including a great pass out to the middle of the pitch.

There were two reasons, simple line of sight problem.

Basically the hardest thing for a keeper to deal with. How can you save a shot travelling at 40mph+ when the first time you see it is 6 yards out?

There might be those with cat-like reflexes who could get a stronger hand on it and save it, but I'd bet that most keepers would struggle with this. I'm betting he's still disappointed though as when you play at elite level the details are minute.

All the armchair fan sees is average looking shot go in, but doesn't understand goalkeeping basics.

Danilo is doing absolutely nothing here other than making an obstacle for the keeper. Problem for him is he also has two players trying to make a block in front of him, so he himself has less time to react. The fact he moves like a sloth through treacle these days also doesn't help.

The whole defence, including the GK, was comical for that goal. Di Gregorio comes charging out and then runs back with everyone in disarray. Gatti acts like he's going to block the shot, but does jackshit and Danilo was doing Danilo things.

Danilo being in our backline often flat footed and incapable of winning a one on one has put everyone into disarray. The trust isn't there that he will do his job.

This is nice explanation but he was signed because he was best goalie. And best goalies should be able to anticipate and react better
