If you think we're gonna finish 7th again or even 5th you're crazy. Unless something seriously goes wrong, like Conte's coaching ability is really bad for Serie A and he is not fired after 5-6 bad games or multiple long injuries to crucial players (Licht, Chiellini etc). I think 3rd spot is realistic. 2nd and 4th are also possible. We won't finish below Lazio or Roma I guarantee. We'll be fighting with Napoli, Inter & Milan for CL. It all depends on how well the rest of our mercato goes. CB & LW + 1-2 more decent players (just solid and not bad like motta, grosso, pepe etc) for depth.
No i m not saying, i also find it less important, whats important as far as i m concerned, is us return on track at becoming competitive some time in the future. But i see us making steps to the opposite direction.
We become more average with every step we make and our long term plans do not focus on building a competitive team.
We make far too many compromises, only to keep the delusional nationalist Italians fans, pleased enough to buy some tickets.
We are not building up a competitive team, just wasting seasons, so the current owners can milk, from the Juve's name, as much as they can.
I have explained in great detail how this was proved in the past 5 years and i have detected the intention and the outcome of this strategy right on the spot, as it actually happened, long before the facts prove me right...
lets have a responce.

You dont need massive fullbacks to do well in the league, it helps but is also the least important position on the field. Licht is massive and fixes the right side.
Ziegler is not a hole in the defence like grosso was. He is better then the molinaro that helped us beat rmadrid in 2008. he'll be just fine.

Vidal made steep progression in germany, and just look how pîssed of bayeren was because we took him away. he has alot more potential then melo ever had. more importandly, he is an intelligent player, proven by his versatility. melo has the iq of a sack of potatoes, and can allways get red carded.

Matri provides good enough finishing in the attack, and what we really were lacking was a player who can decide a game. vucinic can be like that, and can also be played in a 4-3-3. he comes at just 15 mil, so we got money left.

There is no LW on the market for us, that is costing more then 15mil and that is worth his price, that we can actually get.
Vargas, perotti or bastos. we'll get one of those.

Luciano we didnt take, but marotta continues for a new commanding CB, and asks conte's blessing before signing, a very important thing here.

All in all we had a briliant mercato so far, and just need 2 players. since we got some cash left, im sure it will happen

and you need to stop beeing so damn depressive
I believe the past years have proved quite the opposite!
I also believe that a competitive team, is as strong, as its weakest link.
The fullback issue has been haunting us for year and we have paid a steep price for that, to permanently solve we only need a minor investment of 10-15mil, just a uneeded Iaquinta, Almiron, Tiago, Poulsen less...
And for this particular moment, we need far better fullbacks than ever, because Conte's 4-2-4 relies on them and if we revert to 4-3-3 thats even worse.
I have serious doubts that Ziegler will keep the pace, in the same level of competitiveness, as the rest of his squadmates.
I believe that an acquisition of a higher rated LB, should be our 3rd priority and should not be overlooked for a 6th consecutive season, with yet another quick fix!

Just like i said Vidal is just promising, but not proven.
Melo was also promising, imo much more promising because of what he did at the highest level with his NT, there is no doubt about as the Real Madrid and market value confirm.
Of course Vidal, as a new toy appease more promising to our eyes now.
But i m old and mature enough to see beyond this.
To replace Melo with Vidal we have sacrificed too much, way too much for this transfer to be judged prudent and Vidal, to justify everything we have sacrificed in financial level and roster compromises, must deliver wonders right away.
Other than positive thinking, objectively there is nothing to guarantee that Vidal will deliver with consistency, much more than Melo, not even the same!
We made a huge, uncalled imo risk, for no particularly good reason
and most importantly, we favor it as a highest priority of more urgent and grave matters.

The trend of spending the majority of our resources and time, on CMs ans SSs, EVERY year, whilst off loading the ones we have bought last year, for free/peanuts. Is disgusting, ridiculous, unacceptable and extremely harmful to our cause!

On the left wing we have Martinez, ffs!!!
Not Marchisio, Melo or Pirlo, but Martinez!!! Who is it more important to spend the 15mil on Vidal to replace Melo and not on Bastos to replace Martinez????

Is the Martinez Vidal Pirlo Krasic midfield, so much better than the
Bastos Melo Pirlo Krasic???
IMO the significantly upgraded midfield is the ones that significantly upgrades the weakest link, not the one who fine tunes the star midfielder.
Maybe to appease the fans, a new star and the promise it brings, will help to sell more tickets, but in the long term, the squad will be strengthened less, if we keep the same level of crappy starters.

As for the CB and LW all we have now, is wishfull thinking, every year at this very critical point, when it becomes obvious that we failed in the transfer market again, ppl's optimism is hurry to balance thing, by considering assumable targets, as certain or inbound acquisitions, but every year we wait until the last day, only to confirm that they didnt arrive again...
And then, they just make up new excuses, you CANNOT at any case judge our mercato, by the acquisition we didnt make and you think/hope that we will do!

The facts are that we have once again failed miserably to hire a proven coach, who can make us competitive again, without risking yet another year.
We failed yet again to make a half decent profit from sales, even from very valuable players, like Melo.
Once again we have favored quality over quantity and further postponed the build up of a decent ammount of top quality starters, by not acquiring a couple of champions, but rather opt for more Pazienza, Ziegler etc
Once again we have given priority to fix minor details, rather than fixing our major issues. Or at least compromise our chances to find an optimal solution to our major issues, by giving them less importance by our minor issues.
