We'd get raped on our left flank. I really hope we'll finally get good options for our FB positions... and with good options I mean players who can actually bloody defend.

Who would the front 3 be though?

It would have to be Krasic, Matri and Bastos?

Then we would have Quag on the bench and did you not say we were gonna spend big on a SS this year?

That would mean new SS, Krasic and Matri up front and that we signed Quag and Bastos to be subs.

Even if we had a 25 year-old Paolo Maldini at left-back, some here would still complain about formations with Hazard or Giovinco or Dzsudzsak or Elia or pretty much any good attacking player on the left-side.

Vucinic/Menez/Bastos-Matri-Krasic

Could work?

The 4-3-3 is probably what we should be using anyway. After all, since Marchisio is an indispensable starter, we might as well just deploy the trident and give those players a bit more freedom to roam.

But it's not the Italian way, I know.

Sure, the Italy team never use it...

Exactly. Everyone will find a reason to say our left side will be weak...but lets completely forget about Krasic being the exact same kind of player on the right as these wingers on the left.

We could have the best LB in the game but because the winger in front of him is too offensive suddenly that becomes the weak spot in our team. Krasic and Sorensen have been just fine all season long and there you have an 18 year old non RB playing RB and doing well with an offensive winger in front of him rarely tracking back. Of course there will be some fragile moments and even Maldini had them...big fucking deal, we will concede no matter what.

Be realistic now, Bastos as LB is a complete joke, PDC as our LB has brought any sort of long term success, it's kinda obvious that we'd be concerned about the LB position. Having seen Tremoulinas & Cissokho in action, i can confidently say that would solidify the left side of defense & whoever our LW might be, won't have to stress about losing possession of the ball.

You can get a strong LB but an LM that is "too attacking" would cripple us. That seems to be the argument around here these days.

I only recall Zac attack mentioning that & Red agreeing to an extent. But as i said, the options we have now & possibly using Bastos as LB would lead to a clear cut route to goal for our opposition.
