I can't imagine Juve signing Bastos as backup or not playing whatever forward is signed (Rossi) or not playing a CF or not playing Krasic.

I don't like the fact of having slow Pirlo in 2 man midfield. It's gonna get crushed against high paced teams... especially if the man next to him is Vidal.

I've no issue with 4-4-2 as a formation, as a general rule.

My problem with it is purely about Pirlo not being suited to it.

Average team, would not finish above either Milan or Inter, or probably even Roma. Bastos is a wing-back, not an out and out winger, so playing him in a 4-4-2 is retarded, and only someone who does not know what they are doing would do that. Never played there for Lyon or Brazil whenever they've used him. Grossi would be a pointless signing, and a waste of money, is he really that much better than Quag? not really, both had 1 great season in there entire careers, neither are world class or probably will never be considered as world class players. Might as welll sign a top class defender and LM for that money i.e. Hazard/sakho

Have you seen Bastos play for Lille and Lyon? He only played as wingback for Brazil.
