I thought I'd re-text this as he has gone to Palermo today (July6) having signed a 4 year contract. Nearly 2 weeks ago I originally asked the question "Is he just a saleable commodity?" We'll probably never really know whether he was brought back from having had a pretty fair season at Benfica, on loan, just to be sold off or at very least part exchanged. I started this thread because as I previously stated, you'd have to imagine the Juve board must have either said to him or led him to believe he had some sort of future at our club. Certainly, Miccoli publicly said as much, placing himself "at Mr.Ranieri's disposal!" Frankly, my guess is the intention was either before the end of August, or at the latest in January, our club fully intended to offload him, & especially now that he is gone after only being back with us a matter of a month or so, it would seem that way. Or if I'm to "second guess" our club management, it's even possible that Miccoli was "in the know" all along. Running a major football club is no different from running a major corporation, no sentiment in business...but the fact remains that he does have some talent, even if journalist Gabriele Marcotti dismisses him as a "shortarse." I think he'll do well at Palermo to whom he is much more suited & I hope he doesn't, on their side, come back to haunt us! Will we then say our board showed business sense?
