Defn Zapata for me.

I don't think we will get Pique .. and Richards is defn not leaving.

But I prefer Zapata to all the defenders we have been linked with recently.

He does not have the hype that Richards does and is not as big and strong but he has good technique and would cost way less. Plus after Richards classless sex tape thing I don't think we should get him as we defn don't need anything to make our image worse imo.

Also the fact Zapata is already so good in Serie A is a huge bonus.. and our relations with Udinese are so good.

but I am not even sure we will sign a CB.

Who is the better defender Richards or Zapata?
I can't really say who is better. both are great, but I've seen more of Zapata and he has always impressed me. He has been injured and mised Udinese's last 4 games. Check how much they have conceded in that time (and their GK, Handanovic has been great too). I can say however, that he is not as hyped as Richards, which works well for us.

Zapata or Richards?
Well let's have a look. Richards is 19 whereas zapata is 21; this i s a plus for zapata imo, because as a defender, experience definately counts!
Richards is injured at the moment and supposed to be back in the middle of april, now being so young and already having trouble with injuries is not really very promising imo.
Zapata has serie a experience, and also uefa-cup-experience (3 games if i remember correctly). Again a bonus for the columbian.
As for their market-values; richards is at 11 mio whereas zapata is at 8 mio (probably due to the age-difference also). I'd say let's go for zapata! He's not that hyped as richards, and i'd say with richards there is soon going to be the Bigs ringing the bell of mancity. Also, Manycity are known to be building a squad for the future, not quite sure they will even start negotiations...
Zapata is the way to go, imo. I'd be ready to give them something around 15 mio for him! he definately is worth it, i think he only has been subbed ONCE in udinese. he even scored twice... not many cards... i really can't see a downside in him. Zapata-Chiellini ? THE defence for the future!

I'm almost certain that we wont buy any CB next season. With mellberg coming to the team (chiellini and legro playing very decent in our back) and andrade coming back from injury, the CB position is looking pretty covered atleast for next season..........

i think he would be a good buy, he is still young and can also play as a right back. if we can mold him into a full right back and he is good we could have our right back problem solved

    english version

Market duel between Atletico Madrid and Juventus. The object of the dispute is Gerard Piqué, 21 year old Spanish defender grown in youth team of Barcelona, currently playing for Manchester United. The news is reported by the British tabloid 'Daily Mail'. The Spanish club is working to further strengthen its defense after having already chosen for the next season the Dutch Heitinga (Ajax) and the Czech Ujfalusi (Florentina).

Keeping with werder players: Naldo seems like a very good CB he has also cemented his place in the Brazil NT. Now he should make the next step at club level

Naldo is a solid, tough defender but he is prone to terrible erorrs, and often goes on a patch of terrible form. I am not too fond of him. Maybe Altagsheld could give us a better insight of the player.
