I would take Pique before Richards.

Not being English, he would have a better chance of adapting and his price would be more reasonable because he only has just over a year left on his contract.

And I agree with Alen, their is virtually no chance that the other English clubs will stand by and watch us take the best young English defender to Italy.

My Bad Boy Days Are Over, Assures Richards

A self-taped video of Richards' sexual antics in a disabled toilet somehow found it's way into the hands of News of the World on Sunday, causing the player and his club no small manner of embarrassment.

The 19-year-old netted a highly lucrative extension deal despite the scandal, but Richards insists that he has learned his lesson regardless.

Zapata!!! Cheapest, Serie A experience and speaks Italian already, plays week in week out for his club and has even captained Udinese before. Plus, I've seen him the more than the others and he is always excellent.

If we had a team that only required one defender to strengthen it then i would pay that kind of money for Richards. But to think that we need at least 2 quality defenders, an attacking midfielder as well as more back up, i dont see the club spending that kind of cash on one player...and if they were stupid enough to do that, then it would be on Diego...(one would think anyway)

Pique would be good to get and cheaper..definitely agree on getting Zapata, but im worried about what Udinese would want..ie. they'll ask for our young guns such as Giovinco, Criscito, Palladino, Marchisio.....players which we need to keep.

..

If Richards was Italian, and playing for Parma, his price would be around 7-10m. English prices are nutz!

Richards is too expensive and he wouldn't move out of england anyway, english players dont like to move abroad. Pique is going to be a brilliant defender and would be a very good investment

If Udinese would give us Zapata for just Palladino and Criscito, I would go ahead with the deal in a second. Zapata is 2 classes above Criscito and is about the same age and Palladino is just an above average player at the moment. We need to get class players like Zapata, a great defender for his age who can be one of the best in a few years and can serve us for a long time, so I don't see why we NEED to keep inferior players like Palladino and Criscito.

Agreed, i would sacrifice Criscito for Zapata, but i think udinese would go for the likes of giovinco and marchisio as well.

Criscito and palladino would be a yes provided giovinco returns to the club.
