Anyone here's a Metallica fan.
Anyone wants to post some of their Metallica favourite songs with a specific look on their lyricsand comment on them.

Personally i think Metallica had some of the greatest lyrics ever written from :
" Where's your crown King Nothing"

to

"So f****** what"

and also if anyone knows exactly what these mean:

I love Metallicas lyrics, one of the few heavy bands I know that actually has some decent lyrics. Hetfield is a great writer.

I see you mentioned "So What", the lyrics are great (and incredibly X-rated), but it's a cover, Metallica didn't write that one.

"Wherever I May Roam" is about being on the road touring, they during constantly for two years, and they've said that song became almost a theme song for their tour. You can see of the lyrics speak of that all they have is pride, and all they save is knowledge, as everything else they have to leave behind. My favourite line from that song is: "I'm by myself, not alone".

And here a song about a stolen amp:

Nothing else matters lyrics are great of course, but I personally think the "unforgiven" lyrics are better.

Sure do Pal.

Hetfield wrote the start of the song while on the phone. He was just messing with the guitar, that's why the opening is played on open (non-fretted) strings. He wrote the rest of the song quickly after the phonecall. The lyrics is about: "Being on the road and missin' your chick at home (...) Girlfriends come and go, but the song still means something though." In that context, it's not too hard figuring out the rest of the song.

I think if you see at the songs development live from 92 to SM, it's amazing to see how it's improved. Great song.
