Lichtsteiner.. He was a hard working RB with the determination level of Gattuso.. I think Licht is our most underrated RB in history - He was good when defending and quite underrated regarding his attacking contribution..

As for Demiral - Yeah he had a good game but I see him being stressed when applied pressure and he obviously needs more experience if we want to keep him..

Or how about a cohesve functional team, set up well enough to not just allow the greatest attacker ever to run directly at a CB 1 on 1? that really sounds like :tuttosport: to me.
We all want that but we don't have it based on our midfield not being good enough. We concede more under Sarri than we did under Allegri. Right now we need a defender who is fast strong can tackle and boss forwards around. He fits the bill.

The question is whether bonucci or de ligt makes way. In the interest of the next decade inwouod say bonucci comes out. But how imoortabt is his passing from the back?

lol, short of some epic disaster, you're deluding yourself if you think Demiral is benching either of them. Bonucci - De Ligt will be the starting duo until Chiellini returns.

He seems like a defender who just loves defending, as ridiculous as it sounds there aren't enough of them these days.

He looks to have the same mentality as Chiellini where he takes pride in winning every dual and protecting the goal. He is raw and his positioning not ideal but given time he could be an excellent player for us.

Thinking ahead, he would match up well with De Ligt. De Ligt shares a lot of Bonucci's better qualities - anticipation and intercepting is strong, very decent on the ball.

The De Ligt - Bonucci pairing is lacking a real marker that likes to sit on his opponent ala Chiellini but Demiral looks like that kind of player as well.

How would look a Demiral Chiellini back line?

Probably not a lot of constructive play from the back. Two centre-halves on yellows in the first 60 minutes would be a likely outcome as well. In spite of all that, they'd be a brick wall that would do any attacking pairing/trident's heads in.

The Chiellini comparisons are a tad premature but what I found really uncanny was how Demiral made those runs down the left channel. That is a very Chiellini.
