Rafael Sobis will not be joining Milan after reports in Brazil suggested that he has agreed to join a Spanish club.

The 21-year-old Internacional Porto Alegre striker has revealed that he is heading for Europe, but has failed to disclose the name of his new club.

“The goal I scored against Palmeras was the last one with Internacional,” said the Brazilian international.

“I have finalised an agreement with a Spanish club, but I cannot reveal the name of them just yet.”

The striker was being eyed by Milan as the replacement for Andriy Shevchenko and had expressed his availability, but the Rossoneri’s delay in closing the deal may have proved to be fatal.

Sobis was decisive in the recent Copa Libertadores Final against Sao Paulo, scoring twice in the first leg, and has been also courted by Seville, Racing Santander and Valencia.

well they arn't short of fire power, gila, pippo usually sumhows get sumthing,amoruso, kaka, im not too sure who else they can sign really, as torres seems like hes staying, ronaldo unlikely to leave, as far as i can think of, it leaves iaquinta, but with adriano looking to leave, and with players from both milan clubs always changing their alligence, adriano to milan?

Inter and Newcastle have agreed a fee for striker Obafemi Martins, the Premiership club have confirmed.

“The Magpies have had discussions with the Serie A giants over the Nigerian international, and now they are set to press on and hopefully agree terms with the player and his representatives,” read an official statement.

Newcastle President Freddy Shepherd also confirmed that a fee had been agreed for the Nigerian striker and it is now up to him to approve the offer and close the deal.

The Magpies are in desperate need of a forward to replace the injured Michael Owen and the now retired Alan Shearer.

Martins became Newcastle’s top priority after they missed out on Feyenoord’s Dirk Kuyt who moved to Liverpool.

Boss Glenn Roeder was one of Martin’s top sponsors and the club is ready to spend a reported £10.9m to bring the African to Saint James’ Park.

The 21-year-old would join former Inter teammate Belozoglu Emre who moved to England last summer.

Martins, who has conceded that playing in the Premiership has been a long-term target, was also courted by Portsmouth.

martins is, imo, one of the most overrated strikers in the world. followed closely by his former partner adriano. i don't understand what newcastle is thinking, who do they think they are buying? yet another soon to be flop. i guess they gotten used to it by now.

They're very stuck for strikers, and a player with Martins' pace is likely to be useful at least.

the main problem is they always spend silly. i don't remember one player that they bought which was actually good, all they buy are rejects. shearer was probably their last decent buy in the last 10 years. oh when i think of the names for the past years; asprilla, bowyer, woodgate, dyer, bramble, boumsong, bellamy... god, they are worse than inter.

yeah ditching woodgate was a great move. they really do have some problems with injuries. i forgot about owen, he's a good buy, but like you said the curse is upon him as well. poor toons...

I didn't say they were looking for pace. I said it was an indication that Martins will be at least okay in the EPL. They sold Bellamy a couple of years ago because he's an undiciplined thug.

Owen would have been fine if he hadn't been prematurely rushed back from injury to play for England.

Dyer is a lazy ****, and will never be a great player.

Newcastle do seem to have injury problems, yes, but most of them involve players who were already injury prone when they signed them. Owen had a history of hamstring problems, Woodgate was injury prone, Duff and Carr are both a bit delicate. They have to stop signing players like that if they want to have a consistant first eleven.

When we talkinh about Real flopped trensfers, I'm thinking on Baljic first. Real bought him for at that time their record fee, and he played few games got injured and never played for Real again. Actually Baljic is now "singer" he singing folk music (really terrible) and have his own CD.

Only thing that I wonder is what Sanz is thinking when he see sum which he payed for "singer"
