I need to know about a condition called the Moya-Moya disease. It's a condition that causes veins in the brain to burst and result in strokes.

from what i read, it's more common in men. patients with this illness have a better chance of winning the lottery than surviving it. In The history of this disease most people end up paralized or they cannot see, talk or hear.

What are the symptoms or moyamoya disease?

In children:

- Ischemic symptoms, consisting of recurrent, sometimes alternating episodes of focal cerebral deficit, especially weakness but also speech and sensory symptoms. These are the most typical symptoms.

- Seizures
- Involuntary movement disorders
- Intracranial hemorrhage.

In adults:

- Intracranial hemorrhage is the most common presenting event.

- Ischemic symptoms, such as those in children may also occur.

from what i asked the doctor, there is no real cause for this disease and patients who survive their first stroke can easily have another.

what i hope to know though,is how to minimize chances of a recurrence.

PS. Elnur,it's not due to cholestrol.
