Camoranesi 'deserves respect' Thursday 29 July, 2010

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Mauro Camoranesi’s agent demands “more respect from Juventus” and despite the protests insists “the fans are behind Mauro.”

The veteran winger has been dropped from the squad for tonight’s Europa League tie with Shamrock, which kicks off at 19.45 UK time.

The club is irritated that he has refused a series of transfers and this week supporters unfurled banners urging certain ageing figures to accept it was time to move on.

“It is not true that we rejected Olympiacos and Hercules, as we never received any offers from these two sides,” agent Sergio Fortunato told Leggo newspaper.

“We are tired of hearing that Mauro would never want to leave Juventus. He is a professional and deserves more respect.

“He does his duty, works hard in training and is at the complete disposal of the Coach.”

Fortunato also denied that the fan protest was aimed at Camoranesi. ‘To those who ought to go but want to stay, we’ll give you a year of hell’ was the message.

“I didn’t read Mauro’s name on that banner. If anything, I sincerely believe the Juventus fans are behind Mauro.

I don’t know if Camoranesi has been frozen out of the squad, as this is up to the directors and the Coach to say.

“Of course Mauro would like to play for a club that he has already given so much to.”

AGENT: BLUES WANT CAMORANESI

Mauro Camoranesi's agent has revealed that Birmingham have made contact over a possible move for the Juventus midfielder.

The 2006 World Cup winner has been linked with a departure from Juventus after eight years with the Turin club.

His representative Sergio Fortunato has now declared that Birmingham are interested in bringing in the 33-year-old.

Alex McLeish is looking to build on the accomplishments of last season, when Blues finished in the top half of the Premier League.

A number of transfer targets have been identified and Fortunato says his client would be open to playing at St Andrews.

"There was an official contact with Birmingham. A Fifa agent gave me a letter from the English management," he told calciomercato.it.

"They made a proposal and I have discussed it with Juventus.

"Birmingham are a respectable team and the Premier League is a good league."

Camoranesi has also been linked with Hercules, who are preparing for the new Primera Liga season in Spain after winning promotion last term.

Fortunato claims there has been no firm interest, while Camoranesi would not have been so keen on a move anyway

"With Hercules there has been never anything official, I've just heard these rumours," said the agent.

"With all due respect to the Spanish club, Mauro wants something more than a newly promoted team.

"Mauro wants to play football at a good level for a couple of years. Then, possibly we'll think about other solutions."

Didn't his agent said a lot of times that he only considers leaving Juventus if it is for a big/respectable club?
