neither of them are really wing backs though
Padoin is a wing back, but not really someone you'd expect to be pushing Lichtsteiner.

Kind of a stick or twist situation with Isla, we could easily lose out either way. He hasn't shown anything like his previous form and may not do for a while, but I'd expect if he plays most games for Inter under Mazzarri he'll do at least fairly well. His system exploits attacking wide players more than ours.

If the fee is at least €7m and we are going to use it to strengthen (rather than selling players who are actually first choice) then I can see why the club might go for it.

It's also why I said that we hadn't paid '€36m' or whatever figures were being bandied about for him and Asamoah. Co-ownerships are not the same as loans or loan to buys.

@Gian, as Red already said, we would have to agree to any move Inter would make for either our half or Udinese's. It is most likely we would sell ours back to Udinese, or even use it as part or co-ownership for another player (Muriel, Basta, Zielinski?).

Isla has the potential to be awesome, if given the chance. I don't see us discarding the useless midget anytime soon, and yet we are so keen on getting rid of Licht.

Padoin is extremely average.
Yet performed better than Isla :D

I'd give him another chance. The man was really good at Udinese. Even if we chose to sell, I hope we don't consider selling to Inter or Milan or Napoli.

Why did Marotta bought his half in the first place? He knew he was injured and will miss pre season. Selling him to Inter especially under Mazzarri is a bad idea.

Pretty much. Ideally, I'd keep him around for at least another season, but the thing is we don't actually need him.
Then again, we didn't need him to begin with, so this will turn out to be one crappy deal. I think the initial plan was for him to be our starter & to sell Licht, who's always had his fair share of suitors. But in reality, that has never even looked like feasible.
It almost seems like we signed him just to keep him away from Inter.

Still think we should keep him. I don't like judging players after one crappy, injury hit season.

This somewhat would remind me of giovinco's transfer except that this will come back to bite us in the ass.isla will be motivated even more to perform.
This was simply a mismanaged transfer both in regards to the player and the money involved.

my bet was and still is, udinese (+ isla's agent) trolled marotta by forced him to take isla when he negotiated for asamoah.
I'm not sure how it's possible, but your posts are progressively getting worse.

Won't Zuniga be deployed on the left if he came anyway?
He's right footed, so surely could play either side?
