In 4-3-3 RBs/LBs are essential for attacking play, which is not really what Mattia is good at.
4-4-2 would suit him perfectly, but that's not the formation that brings you titles nowadays.
Having said that, De Sciglio turned out to be a really good defender, even having something old school in him (maybe, because he became tough but remained humble and hardworking), which I personally like.
He's only 26 but already has everything it takes to become a great defender that can play on any position in defense: RB, CB, LB. I think, he will develop in this direction, not as an offensive fullback. And this is even more important for Juventus.

This is far from being a fact. MDS is disciplined but doesn't risk much going forward so obviously there will be less situations in which he's gonna be caught out of position. I remember him being a liability against Barcelona last year, so the jury's still out on whether he's good enough to play against top opposition. Cancelo and Alex Sandro are pretty competent defenders, even if the latter has been kinda meh lately.
Not saying he's bad. He's been okay for a backup recently but he could be a lot better if he improved his attacking play even if it was just to Licht levels.

Yeah, waiting to him vs a couple of quality opponents. Besides Barca, he was also poor vs Spurs and Real, against both of whom Licht did much better.
But it does look like he improved defensively. Another thing is injuries. They limit his progression. Being injured a lot also means spending some time getting back to your previous best, leaving you little time to improve further before you get injured again.
About him not going forward as much and tucking in centrally, it's by design. That's what the more defensive of the two FBs do. Hanging back and tucking in centrally is defensive positioning, not so much playing the ball tactic.
AS can't do that on the left while playing the more defensive role (when Cancelo is there) because Ronaldo goes in, so he has to stay on the flank even while playing deeper/less attacking role than Cancelo, but he does that too sometimes.

not necessarily, even Pep in his peak years at Barcelona had one attacking and one more passive going forward (later started experimenting with Busquets staying back and having 2 attacking FBs, but wasnt as successful anymore). if you pair MDS with AS/Cancelo, it should work in any 4 defenders system
That's true. If the team have players for such asymmetry, it can be the case. And Juventus have such players - Cuadrado if playing in midfield can easily compensate Mattia's lack of attacking skills (actually, MDS + Cuadrado is much better than Cancelo + Cuadrado, since in the second case, as we've already seen it, it's confusing for both of them).

I think the team benefits when mattia is behind a real wingers (Cuad, costa), him with Dybala or Berna isn't the best, cancel would be a better option to provide the width
They are all serie B players, none of them should be spared and they are only here because of their manager's connections.
As for De Ciglio, he actually really sux defensive wise, his only positive attribute supposedly is going forward, which clearly is not good enough for us.
With Beppe gone, hopefully such deadwood will be gone too

That's simply wrong. Do you even watch us play?
We seriously underestimate defensive solidarity these days, esp with the 3 man defense and 2 - 3 DMs in front them, the main characteristic we were looking for was going forward.

And that's for the poor Italian standards of the modern day Italian defense, which is imo, the worse of the century.
We got De Ciglio mostly because of the fact that he can play both sides.
Also because we need some minimum number of Italian players.
I prefer having a specialized tool for each player, someone who is great at his post and not mediocre all around. And those sub posts should be filled with talented youngsters, that should be given more chances than we give.
