So I take it he is Barzagli replacement? Barzagli's contract expires this summer right?
He is expected to renew for another season, most likely as an last choice backup tho, pretty sure we'll be making room for both Caldara and Rugani to fight for a place otherwise imo there's no point in keeping two of the most promising young italian CB's just for them to be warming up the bench all year...

Rugani was fine this year, no idea why people are bashnig so much. He's miles ahead of Bonucci at the same age. He will come good eventually, and he'll form a great CB combo with Caldara very soon.
As I said, no tattoos, calm play and good positioning instead of last gap reckless tackles and here you go. I bet the same people would exchange him with Romagnoli in a heartbeat.

Yep. Seems like Italian CB's tend to fully blossom later in age than others. It's the Italian way I suppose.

In any case, piece on Caldara:

https://www.blackwhitereadallover.c...mattia-caldara-juventus-atalanta-2018-serie-a

In 30 appearances that season (2016/17), he averaged a gaudy 3.4 interceptions per game for a total of 101 in all, according to WhoScored.com. That number placed Caldara fifth amongst all defenders in Europe’s Top 5 leagues, not just Serie A.
This past season, Caldara averaged 2.2 interceptions per game across both domestic competition as well as in the Europa League, another impressive number. The only member of Juventus who had a higher average interception rate last season was Medhi Benatia, and the difference was minuscule (Caldara’s 2.2 to Benatia’s 2.4).
Having scored 10 goals in the past two seasons alone from corners, set-pieces, and crosses into the box

Nah. I love/d Barza, and he has no tattooes and doesn't do reckless tackles either.

Rugani is good, no doubt, but not sure he'll make the final steps to become a WC CB.
