But they won't sell him for less than what he is worth. They are in a strong position with teams lining up left and right for his signature. Obviously they want to sell him to the highest bidder, and chances are that won't be Juventus.

On the other hand - Mark already greened him, so calma. Done dealio.
We are in a strong position as well since the player wants us if you were to believe the reports. No way I can see Barcelona bidding 85mln for him after De Jong, Griezmann and possibly Neymar. Nor do I see De Ligt preferring PSG to us since we agreed to pay him the salary he wants.

De Ligt will never force a transfer though, so it's either pay the asking price or he will stay at Ajax or go to another club.

We do not really know, what is the truth, because the player never publically stated his wish, so till it is a pure speculation. At the moment, the only factor what is important: where Raiola sees the more money.

And how often did we see this in the past without getting the player in the end? It drags on forever and the player ends up going somewhere else, to a club willing to pay the asking price.

Not sure if you can say it's been dragging on forever. When was it reported that we have reached an agreement with the player, last week? I don't think operations for almost 100 mln are being closed within few days. First, they reported Ajax is fine selling as long as they pay 70mln. Now it's 85. Let's just wait. If we ain't getting him the world will not collapse, nor will Juve.
