Need to be taken sometimes..

Dunno why some people are against this move..First of all he's only 18 and he's only going to better especially with the likes of Chiellini and Barzagli mentoring him.

Its clear that our defenders arent getting any younger especially Barzagli and hence why i think it will be a good investment for the future as opposed to someone like Ogbonna who is already 24 and would want to be a starter at his next club.

You can call a bit similar to the Varane-Madrid deal..You can tell that Varane could takeover from either of the two (considering their form) maybe sooner than expected. In other words having a young talented CB would in turn increase competition with the existing defenders and its a good headache to have in my opinion.

But it could still not work, you cant say anything for sure. He's only young with a high ceiling so if he flops, he would be sold for a decent value either ways.

Risky but very worth it.

Milan bought T.Silva for 10m€ when he was 24 years and only had 4 appearances with the national team.
We bought BonBon for 15m€ when he was 23 years old, a Serie B defender with only 2 appearances with the Nazionale.

Doria could be something very special under Conte and could learn a lot from Chiello and Barza. Like when Silva learned a lot from Maldini and Nesta.

He's still a threat and a very consistent performer. I can count on one hand who I'd rather have instead and none of those are realistic to get anyway.

Defensively, sure.

On the latter part, that still doesn't make him good enough though.

yup

serie a defenses catch on quick

if bale played in this league, there wud b no more bale
If Bale played in any other league instead of the EPL, there would have been no Bale.

Word. He lacks strong offensive capabilities but the way he locks down the left I feel so confident when he's playing. We'll miss him so much when he leaves in January.

Like Dusan this is bit exciting transfer, us taking the chance on a new and high profile teenage talent (pretty much unanimously praised by every forum I read where there are viewers of brasilian league). When you think brasil you prefer offensive talent, but in last decade they been better at producing defenders (even if half of those are fullbacks more known for offensive skills)..

Their defense has improved considerably over the last month or so though..Marquinhos in particular has caught my eye.
