Losing to Ajax was an epic choke. That was the year where we should've made another final.
But tbh that season was lost in December when we got humiliated by Union at home after dominating most of the game. We never truly recovered from that and it took Ronaldo's individual brilliance to get past Atletico.

The fact that you're saying we should have made another final so casually speaks volume of the quality that Max had. Before Max our last final was in 2003. It took us almost 15 years to get back to another final and he got us in 2 finals in his first term.
He was ousted because they shoved CR7 down his throat when that was not what the club needed. And then Marotta left and it went downhill from there.

We did what all fools do. When you stumble you retrace your steps but learn nothing from the process. We re-hired Allegri, because we assumed history would repeat itself. We learned nothing, we played football that really fueled my steps towards a dislike for this club. We continue to stumble, we learn nothing, and now some want to retrace our steps and hire Allegri again.
I believe hiring someone like Allegri, or keeping Tudor, will destroy our chances to develop and return to the bigger stage. If we do somewhat right, find the right leader, make at least some sensible recruitment, I think we can return in 2-3 years. If we try again what is already broken, we will only repeat and rinse until we by chance get things right a decade from now. The long-term damage will be a lot higher though. Towards the end of Allegri's first stint we could still rely on reputation and success, which enabled future generation fans to find interest and we remained attractive for sponsors. If we continue to play destructive football we will loose fans, loose future fans, we will not be attractive to sponsors and we will continue to our path toward upper mid-table.
I would for the forthcoming years accept 4th spots if it meant we would play attractive football. Find a manager that is not hell bent on a system but is genuinely interested in football and can look beyond rigid systems. I don't want the "hammer" because they only work for short stints and leave you with nothing to build from. I don't want a dinosaur and I don't want Conte because I don't want his drama and he is too risk-aversive.
I really think I would stop watching Juve regularly if we would hire Allegri and it would sent me on a path toward loosing interest (which would take many years due to force of habits). I've seen all games since I was a kid but I am too old now to use the little spare time I have to get so frustrated from watching us. Even when we win, we are barely watchable. The quality of entertainment is so boring. If we want to have even a slight chance to compete with EPL, PSG, Barca, RM, to create future revenues we need to be entertaining.

I want to see clean sheets, miracle goalkeeping and impenetrable defenses.
I grew up watching Davids, Tachinardi, Tudor, Thuram and Montero and there was nothing pretty about their way of football. Sure you had Del Piero, Nedved and Trezeguet up front but even with them you can't say we used to play beautiful football. The beauty was in their executions, but once we had the advantage we would fight it out from the trenches.
Players like Del Piero Dybala and now Yldiz are pretty rare in our history and there is no denying that they would have probably had more stellar careers in other clubs where they would have enjoyed more possession and balltime, but I'm glad they played for us.

I used to feel that way, so I hear you. But I don't want to spend 180+ minutes a week watching something dull. The new generation of potential football fans won't watch it. If we want to survive, we need to change. Especially when the new generations will root for EPL teams, PSG, Barca, Real, BM and so forth. All of them play more entertaining than us, have bigger players, etc. We will slowly decline unless we change. Allegri would definitely help in that decline.
Didnt Ajax demolish Real 4:1 away in the CL before meeting us? They had young vibrant side that were minutes away from reaching the final that season. Either way bringing few odd games every once in a while when he consistently made this team compete for the biggest trophies, won 3rd most number of titles in our history, had impressive win ratio, has to be trolling by few haters and we should not pay attention to these lot. Allegri 4ever.
More trolling from lioness. MDL was great that season so that means he should be great in every one of the seasons after that? His career went downhill after he left Ajax. Under Sarri he was awful, started to play voleyball and conceded penalties frequently. How is MDL doing now? Not good from what I hear.
