usually i don't mind the subs, it's either a meh player or an other meh player coming in from the bench, but picking paredes over enzo, wtf dude?! and i'd love to have an explanation for the sandro - bonucci sub too. our defense got shaky after bonucci came in

I would think the Alex Sandro one was an injury. Bonucci was warming up for a large amount of the first half which suggests Alex Sandro had an issue.

I don't rate Bonucci but he was fine today. Their goal was midfield's fault and their only other chance of note was because Tek got caught under a cross and stuck under the ball.

I don't rate Bonucci but he was fine today.

i don't think he was outright terrible, but fine?
- accurate long balls (his main skill allegedly): 0/4
- aerial duels: 0/4 (he's 190 cm tall)
- tackles: 0, interceptions: 1 (so in 45 minutes, 1 recovered ball by a defender, the worst on the pitch)

even his passing accuracy was lower than his usual standard. as i wrote in the live thread, i get that he missed a lot, still, it was far from a good game by bonucci

yeah, that's factually true but a silly excuse. in fact we shouldn't look for excuses at all. we conceded from basically 1 shot on goal and missed important chances again, that's what matters. we should be able to win these matches, period

He 100% had at least one accurate long ball. He played a nice pass from deep through the lines behind their midfield. He also had at least 2 interceptions - one out for a corner which he got a poor contact and another on a long ball down the wing where he put it out for a throw (stupidly into row z when we were chasing the game).

He's 190cm tall but he's 170cm when he jumps for a header, don't expect him to win any headers these days. He didn't in his prime unless it was against us. Nowadays he just uses his body and tries to put the attacker off balance so it runs through to goal.

He didn't really have anything to do today that's what I meant by fine. The defence weren't really beaten for any chances. There could have been one where Pellegrini nearly got on the end of a cross between Bonucci and Kostic but wasn't that close and didn't see the replay to see who was at fault. Apart from that I can't think of much defending he had to do as the game was pretty much us going sideways while they defended deep.

When Man Utd beat Barcelona, I thought to myself that it was the best performance that Man Utd could possibly achieve against a poor Barcelona. Today they played peak performance Liverpool and got murdered. Granted Liverpool has been poor most of the season, I always knew Liverpool was capable of this and that even the best Man Utd are levels below. Then you got Real Madrid who in the second half against Liverpool, just switched on and butchered them. This game has levels, and our peak performance level is currently very low. Our best performance only comes when Di Maria has a good day, otherwise, we are mediocre. We are never unlucky, we don't have games where 9 out of 10 times we win but lose, and we don't have any freak losses; we simply play at an average level all the time.

It's absolutely criminal that with the squad that we have, in 2 seasons Allegri cannot get them to play better than this. Like Man Utd against Liverpool today, Napoli showed us our level and the honest truth is that we're not good enough for UCL and not even close to being favourites for EL. Just like Man Utd, a run of victories only misleads us to think that we've made progress until the reality kicks in like today. The thing is, we have no hope that Allegri can do any better because we forever play shite football whereas if Liverpool sticks with Klopp, they might come good next season and win the EPL or UCL because we do see them occasionally play some world-class football. What have we got to look forward to under Allegri?

It is a financial problem. We are not able to play the Europe games anyway. Why don’t we promote Allegri to the senior coach and hire a real coach for the future?
