Resting key players ahead of Thursday was the right thing to do, but our backups are totally devoid of any flair or creativity. Like @U Picciriddu said, why can't we give our younger players a start in a game like this one?

It wasn't a good performance and we really struggled for the first 10/15 mins of the second half but credit to Allegri for changing it. We couldn't get a touch on the ball so Di Maria was brought on earlier than he would likely have been and Fagioli who was getting overrun switched over to the left for Rabiot. We shouldn't have struggled so badly but both these changes stopped Spezia getting forward as easily and allowed us to get on the ball and up the pitch. Also changed Paredes and Cuadrado quickly after poor first halves.
A lot of the same issues were there (slow play and sitting too deep) but at least he changed things early.
