Don't get me wrong. I am pleased we won (although I dislike every one of the players that scored), but a win is a win, regardless of the opponent.

However, the real Grind commences now: Lecce and Verona the relatively "easy" fixtures sandwiched in between games against Benfica, Inter, PSG, and Lazio before we break for the WC.

Losses against both Lazio and Inter would spell the end of our season, and it'll only be November.

It matters in the grand scheme of things. A loss or draw and elimination is grounds for dismissal, no two ways about it. We might ride this dinosaur until the end of the season, but not qualifiying from a relatively comfortable CL group (losing our opening two games for the first time ever and 3 out of 4 in unprecedented fashion) should not be tolerated.
We were 99,99% eliminated after a loss to Macabbi. Yet he wasnt fired. There is no way a loss or draw at Benfica would get him fired now when we are basically out. For the remaining of the season the best we can hope is for the team to start picking points in Serie A and puts up a strong title challenge until the end. The next few games will tell us more if the recent positive signs were a start of something or just an anomaly.

He should be fired at the end of the season regardless. I understand it's not the policy of the club to fire coaches midseason, and I guess his previous tenure does give him more leeway/leverage. Nonetheless, another trophyless season (which is looking increasingly likely) should not be tolerated.

Would such fuckery be tolerated at Madrid, Barca, Chelsea, PSG, Bayern or even United? Absolutely Not! Unless we're content with becoming a meme team, another trohpyless season is inexcusable (and no, winning the Supercoppa and/or Coppa won't suffice).

Im willing to forgive him should we see a major improvement but when all is negative I hardly believe it would happen.
One game changes nothing so Ill be on the sack Allegri team until I see a major and consistent improvement

I dont disagree there, the only thing that would save him imho is Serie A title. Small hope there. If/when he goes, the problem will still remain if the people making decisions remain. Since 2019 they got most of it wrong so how can we trust them to do the right thing and move this club forward?

Chimichanga, Big Nips Papi Arrivederci, Blond Bozo and The Unibrow Terror should all be canned before Failegri.

What if conte wants to comeback? Looking at the cluelessness in the final third I do think we need coach who drills attacking movements/patterns in the squad.

Short term solution imo. Pretty soon we would all get frustrated at lucklustre permances against European clubs. All the yelling and barking has its limitations. Id want someone new, not to revisit the past again. We tried that and failed so far.

How many times in the last 2 seasons (+ his last season before his first streeting), did we have some randomly decent games and people believed that NOW we would start to play actual football as if we had an actual coach? I count many times already. And it all turned out to be shit in the next few games, because there ISNT a system, ISNT a coach. But the team can pull off some decent games once a while against very poor teams like Empoli.

See a major improvement  What does that even mean. A coach who needs to piss away 2.5 season to establish some sort of a system/team, is not a coach worth wasting more time on..

What about next time we have a bad period, will we just wait 1-2 years for him to correct it again?

Even Ranieri, one of the simplest coaches I can think how, implements ideas on attack, defense, press, transitions, and so on. Everything is extremely simple in comparison to more advanced tactics.
Allegri isn't even simple if you would compare like that since he only has an idea on how to defend. Sit deep and wait out the storm. Transitions only cover lost posession = track back as fast as possible. We have stepped up a little bit lately but there's no unity. Just different players pressing a bit here and there. Look at McKennie next game, take a close look. He is down what he is told which is "track back" and "press high" (both, because we have not been provided a clear idea).
What I wanted to say in a shorter version is, Allegri doesn't even do basics. I agree completely. I can also concur that our squad building is non-existent but he should still be able to provide systems.

Thats why I said I wont get my hopes up. Well a bit of hope remains otherwise no point in watching games or supporting the club. Macabbi might be our Sassuolo from the 2015/16, when players finally got a grip. Or it can be one game off and we go back to being our usual selves over the past few seasons. When was the last time we have beaten anyone by 4 goals margin? And we missed plenty of chances for more. With Chiesa and Pogba back, who knows.

Last game in the league was back in December 2020.
