This is what people don't understand. No one wants Juve to deliberately fail. I had high hopes that when Allegri joined he'd re-introduce some semblance of stability and rekindle our winning ways, and I still want him to succeed with this squad, but so far he hasn't convinced me that he's any better than Pirlo or Sarri. He has convinced me however that he is no rebuilder. He came at the wrong time, simple. Why is that so controversial?

Folk here need to stop equating rightful anger/regret of hiring Allegri with being a "plastic fan" or "not a real supporter". It just creates an echo chamber of ppl parroting the same pro-Allegri agenda otherwise.

@MikeM you're right, but you're making the assumption that we can do this with our players. Firstly, our most successful period is when we had excellent wing backs and a midfield where all the players could tackle effectively. Let's say our current midfield press but get turned, our back line is much weaker and we concede many chances. Our trio up top are 2x target men and an SS so immediately their defense is not great. If it were Vlahovic with Chiesa and Bernardeschi, at least you know they could easily slot back and defend and the Chelsea game was the perfect example of that.

Now, for the sake of attacking we do get exposed more and that's exactly what happened with Sarri. We were more attacking but conceded a lot. I'm not saying Allegri is faultless but his concept of balance is really important and why his love for Bernardeschi is valid because even though the guy can barely create anything, his defensive traits are so important.

The way I see it, Allegri struggles to get his tactics adapted to the new kids on the block who are playing the 'modern' style which is high press, high intensity and attacking with numbers. You know, the likes of Juric, Tudor, Italiano, Dionisi, Gasperini.

Consequently, his first instinct is to always back off and sit deep hoping that Dybala can initiate counter attacks. But the tricky part is that the new kids on the block are narrowing and congesting the space between the defense and midfield so you don't have enough time to decide your next move, thus we have so many missplaced passes.

The new era of football proves that sitting deep can be easily punished because they attack you with numbers and counter press you. It's not like in the old days when Antonio Busce from Empoli crosses the ball to a lone striker and they immediately retreat to defend.

More than half of the Seria A teams are evolving and they are not afraid to attack and press. This is why Seria A increased the numbers of overall goals scored for the past few years.

but but but juric and italiano would make rabiot a beast. suddenly arthur would have the stamina to play more than 60 minutes regularly. gasperini would turn alex sandro into alexander arnold. too bad you didn't mention sarri and spalletti. those guys are pro-pressing too. they'd be fire here, i'm sure of it.

Allegri needs to realize that the game he had against At. Madrid is how Juventus should play, always. Even if we'll end up being punished for it. Especially against teams like Torino and Verona.

The pressing game is a lot more than just having the lungs for it. If you end up chasing players you are actually doing it wrong.

We both know that Allegri has deployed it successfully in the past. He just opts to prevent the opposition from playing when we concede a goal or chasing an equalizer.

Other than that, he prefers to defend deep which proves not very effective this season. You can see that we are usually capable of scoring one goal per game. He just needs to try to be more aggressive for a few more minutes to outscore the opposition instead waiting for them to equalize.

You can't play attacking football without decent attackers and players that give you tons of possession so you can construct attacks. Now look at the number of assists and goals that come from anyone other than Dybala. The squad dictates the way we play more than what a manager can do at the moment.

And yet we expect Pirlo to do differently. His idea of football is about possesion and agressive pressing. He had short time of pre-season due to covid in the previous season. It needs time to change style or instill idea of football like Klopp did with Liverpool. But Pirlo came with high expectation because we were 9th scudetto in a row and we had Ronaldo. Now expectation is different under Allegri, pressure is less but yet we play worse.

The way we defend against lesser sides is worrying. Torino just got beaten by Udinese and Venezia before they played us. Atalanta just beaten by Cagliari and Fiorentina before we almost lost and scored last minute goal. Game against Sassuolo in Coppa Italy also can ended in a draw if there is no goal in the last minute.

Some players also seem played better under Pirlo for example Morata, Chiesa, Cuadrado, Kulu, McKennie, Arthur.
I expect Allegri to do better and i don't want to change a coach again after 3 coaches in 3 season. But so far objectively, Allegri did worse
