Allegri recap #JuveLazio [1]

- Enthusiasm required by all
- Bonucci returned with enthusiasm, deserves respect
- The more the players train together, more they'll know
- The subs tomorrow could be decisive
- Ronaldo plays for now - may be times when he has to be benched

- - - Updated - - -

@cristiano and @PauDybala_JR are our two designated penalty-takers this season. The problem is more about who takes free-kicks, where we now have around 6-7 players who'll be standing around the ball!

"I think that 88-90 points will be required to win the @SerieA title this year."

"Joao Cancelo is very good at attacking space down the wings, but he's young and still has room to develop his game, especially in the defensive phase."

@cristiano is always striving for more. He's highly competitive in everything he does. He has built his own success over the years through hard work and sacrifice. He's a role model for many of the other guys and he raises our overall quality."

"@MATUIDIBlaise is an important player for us, as he demonstrated last year. He's in excellent condition, but I still need to decide if he plays tomorrow. I have plenty top-class midfielders to choose from."

"Tomorrow there will be better link-up play between our midfielders and forwards, which will undoubtedly benefit @cristiano."

- - - Updated - - -

"I believe that @cristiano's goal at Allianz Stadium in last season's @CHAMPionsLeague has helped to build a strong rapport and significant mutual respect between himself and the fans. I think it had an influence in his choice to join Juventus."

Allegri: Wary of Lazio, Alex Sandro…
By Football Italia staff

Max Allegri has urged Juventus to remember how Lazio ended their run of 41 home wins and praised Alex Sandro, who is 'like a new player’.

Lazio came away with a 2-1 victory from Juventus Stadium last season, while Alex Sandro’s performances for the Bianconeri in 2017-18 were regularly criticised.

“Lazio are a well-coached team, who beat us last season after 41 consecutive victories at home, so we’re wary of them,” the Coach said at a Press conference.

“Dybala and Matuidi? I must decide whether to play them. CR7 is good both in the middle and out wide. Alex Sandro? He’s like a new player but he must keep pushing himself.:tuttosport:

“I expect great enthusiasm tomorrow. Bonucci must also be evaluated like everyone else on the field.

“He has great enthusiasm and always has passion. Football is simple, you need to get to know each other more and more.

“There will be improvements. Until now, Ronaldo has had six efforts on goal, so he must be ready to respond.

“Lazio are strong and well-drilled. They play on the break and have Milinkovic, who gives them physicality and class.”

Juventus, Allegri:”Ronaldo brings enthusiasm to Italian football”

After the win at the Bentegodi against Chievo to start the season, Juventus will play in their first home match tomorrow when they face Lazio. The bianconeri’s manager Massimiliano Allegri addressed numerous topics in the pre match press conference, starting with addressing Ronaldo’s first game in his new home stadium:”Now he’ll play. There maybe times when he’s on the bench because we have a lot of matches and there will be times he’ll have to recuperate. Football is a game of knowledge, the more we train together, the more they pass each other the ball. In any event Ronaldo shot the ball six times in Verona. Ronaldo brought great enthusiasm to Italian football. But we must show great respect for our opponents

Allegri was also asked about some of his other key players:”Bonucci returned with great enthusiam, he always showed passion and dedication and he should be respected for what he does. Regardless of who plays tomorrow we need great enthusiam. Will Matuidi start tomorrow? I have to decide he’s in good condition”

Allegri also discussed the status of his two starting wingbacks:”Compared to last season Alex Sandro is another player. But he must demand more from himself. Cancelo is a full back in every regard. He can also play as a midfielder, but he needs to work on the defensive phase, but it’s something easy to do: he’s young”

Allegri issues Ronaldo warning
By Football Italia staff

Max Allegri hailed Cristiano Ronaldo for 'raising the bar’ at Juventus ahead of facing Lazio but warned he was not afraid of benching the No 7.

The match kicks off at 17:00 BST on Saturday – click here for a preview.

“Yes. There will only be a few changes before the international break,” replied the Coach to a question about whether Paulo Dybala and Mario Mandzukic could play with the Portuguese.

“There will also be a very hot atmosphere tomorrow so everyone will be needed, even those who enter during the game.

“For example, the wing is more covered with Douglas Costa, but we also know what can happen with CR7 there.

“I have to make a decision on Matuidi today. He’s in good shape and he always runs. He came in late last season but immediately made us understand what he could give us.

“Changes will depend on the moment, our state and our opponents. From September 16 we’ll be playing every three days, so the changes will be natural.

“However, decisions must be made and only winning counts. if you win, every decision you make is a good one but they’re never fully accepted.

“I’ll decide on Dybala today. The game against Chievo had been one-way traffic, but then

there was Cancelo’s mistake, which was an individual error.

“Just beating Chievo was enough. If we went 3-0 up after half an hour, it wouldn’t have worked out well.

“Ronaldo always puts himself in contention. He’s a true champion, who has built himself with work and sacrifice. He’s a good example and he raises the bar here.

“Ronaldo will never be on the bench, right? No, it can happen.”

Allegri: "Excited to return home tomorrow night!"
http://www.juventus.com/en/news/news/2018/allegri-excited-to-return-home-tomorrow-night.php
Massimiliano Allegri is looking forward to tomorrow night’s difficult home debut of the season against Lazio

TOUGH OPPONENTS
"There's excitement in the air! Lazio will make it a great encounter, they defeated us last season at Allianz Stadium to end a 41-game unbeaten run. So tomorrow is very important, even if it is only our second match of the season. Lazio are a physical and very well-organised team, who love to hit their opponents on the counter-attack. therefore, we need to stay very focused throughout tomorrow's match and put in a better performance than last Saturday.

"Simone Inzaghi is a good young coach, he’s a nice a guy and he came so close to steering them into the Champions League last season, he’s achieved very good results with them both in Europe and in Italy.

"We will show great respect to Lazio but we are aiming for three points tomorrow night."

STARTING TO GEL
"Blaise Matuidi is an important player for us and is training well and is in excellent condition so he could play tomorrow, he did very well last year and got a good goal tally scoring five goals. Bernardeschi is a great lad and he’s playing well right now, he did very well on tour and he is showing himself capable of playing in a number of positions, he's determined to ecome even better. Joao Cancelo is very good at going forward and attacking space down the wings, but he's young and still has room to develop his game, especially in the defensive phase.

"Cristiano Ronaldo trains very competitively, he takes nothing for granted and is a champion, buiding his own success over the years through hard work and sacrifice. He is a great example for the younger players and he raises our overall quality. With both Ronaldo and Dybala, we now have two designated penalty-takers this season. But the problem is more about who takes free-kicks, as now have around 6-7 players who will be standing around the ball!

"Ronaldo is bringing a great enthusiasm to Italian football, I see all the people that are waiting outside Continassa, but regardless of the excitement we still have to win games. We haven’t won anything just by signing him, we have to show that on the pitch."

TEAM NEWS FOR LAZIO

"After today's training, I will have a better idea over who exactly will line-up tomorrow night.

"Ronaldo is set to play tomorrow, but it's important to bear in mind, however, that our forwards are the players who have had the least amount of pre-season training, so they all need to be managed with care. Tomorrow there will be better link-up play between our midfielders and forwards, which will undoubtedly benefit Cristiano.

"Both Dybala and Mandzukic could play together with Ronaldo but It’s not a question of whether one or two of them plays with Ronaldo it’s about the characteristics of the rest of the team and how we set ourselves up.

"We have to play with intensity and desire tomorrow night but above all else, most importantly we have to play with respect."

Basically he's hinting he's going to use Ronaldo like Zidane used him at Madrid. That's fine with me. Needs to be in peak condition for CL games. Cant keep playing him every game like Higuian which is probably why Mandzukic (or maybe even Dybala if things dont work) could see a lot of bench time this season.

Matuidi-Pjanic-Khedira can't hold the ball one second so whats's the call? Take Pjanic out for Can :allegri:

Not a great performance today but important result.

Needs to find a way to bring Ronaldo into the game. He had 1 touch in Lazio's box in the first half.

Thought the attack last week looked really promising, I'd like to see him try it for a few more games. Also think Costa is crucial for this team.

I wonder if he wants to try Can there to see if he can move Pjanic up the field further? I hope thats the case because we need a link to the front 3 wether its Pjanic in a mid 3 or Dybala in a 4-2-3-1

It took him 1 game of a few to many chances given away, to bench our two most creative players, and go back to a midfield with Matuidi, Khedira and Pjanic which worked like shit the entire last year.

Just play Dybala, Costa and Ronaldo and find some way to make it work.

Can't wait to see our offense when it starts clicking.

Also nice nothing conceded today too. We seem to be playing way more direct passing as well which might explain why we misplaced so many passes today lol

I found that hard to believe cuz Max doesn't use to change his mind about a position player bar hard working rate players

I just dont know why Can would be in the middle and Bent would be on the right. Dont want to make something out of nothing but I think hes tried players in different positions plenty of times. Cuads,Mandzukic,Sandro,Dybala,Costa all have been deployed in differnt positions

Worked great tonight. :p
Not really. Matuidi had a good game but the other two was meh.

All I am saying is a front trio of Dybala, Costa and Ronaldo clearly has the best potential, and we will need that potential to be fullfield by the time we get to the latter stages of the CL knockouts. Better find a way to make it work as soon as possible. For me I would keep a front two of Dybala and Ronaldo, unless one of them is injured, needs a rest or is suspended, Costa on the left or right depending on occassion and Mandzu or Berna on the other wing. And for gods sake just bench Khedira.

Oh, I'm just teasing. I want Dybala, Costa, Ronaldo on the pitch too. Though I am fine with tactical adjustments that would at times put Dybala or Costa on the bench in favour of Mandzu, who was excellent today.

Pjanic was decent today too. His long balls were superb. Had 4 or 5 really accurate long passes. And the goal of course.

Emre Can looked like rubbish, but I'm sure he'll get sharper with time. Bentancur looked good in his brief few minutes with the match pretty much over. Would like to see Can/Bentancur-Pjanic-Matuidi on the pitch, behind that Dybala-Ronaldo-Costa front 3.

Allegri: 'I can only start 11'
By Football Italia staff

Max Allegri explained some of his changes as Juventus beat Lazio 2-0. “I have to choose a starting XI with technique, balance and physicality.”

Miralem Pjanic and Mario Mandzukic got the goals, but the Coach surprised by dropping Paulo Dybala, Douglas Costa and Juan Cuadrado.

“It was a different game to Chievo, but above all at the start we were a little hasty. The danger today was to get swept up in the enthusiasm of the stadium for Cristiano Ronaldo’s first at the Stadium and we should’ve had more patience,” Allegri told Sky Sport Italia.

Without Dybala, it becomes more difficult to pass between the lines, but after a while we defended well and did far better in the second half.

“I’m happy with the performance, it was our first head-to-head with one of the other big clubs and it went well.

“At times we fall asleep, at others we get frenetic, whereas we need more balance throughout. The spaces did open up after a while and we should’ve accelerated when the opponents were more fatigued.

“Once again, the substitutions were very important with Douglas Costa, Emre Can and Rodrigo Bentancur making an impact off the bench.

“We have to improve our tempo, our control and the way we read the game, but the centre-backs did a good job against Lazio’s dangerous counter-attacks.

“It’s one game per week in the first three rounds, but from September 15 onwards there will be midweek Champions League games too and naturally we’ll need everyone. The important thing is that those who come off the bench contribute in the right way.

I have a very strong squad and have to evaluate everyone. We needed these characteristics in midfield today, but I could take a different approach to Parma.

Dybala connects the lines, Bernardeschi can do that too, but those who were at the World Cup arrived late to pre-season training and not everyone finds their fitness levels at the same time. Mandzukic and Matuidi have a different engine to others.

“The important thing now is that I choose a starting XI with technique, balance and physicality. That doesn’t mean those on the bench are useless, but I can’t play more than 11 at a time.

Cristiano Ronaldo again failed to find the back of the net, but unintentionally assisted Mandzukic.

Italian football is completely different to in Spain, Ronaldo understands that, and he is settling in very well. He’s a very humble guy and I’m very pleased with the impact he’s made so far.”
