Talking of Lippi, the list of managers who have played for him is ridiculously long. Not sure many of Fergusons former players will make in on the big stage.

Some high level ones who played under Lippi: Conte, Zidane, Deschamps and Sousa.

Credit to him for getting the team to have the right attitude today when it would be easy to think about next week.

But 3-0 up at home vs Palermo after 60 mins, with a knockout CL game midweek....I don't think Higuain and Dybala should have played 90 mins. Especially given the amount of minutes they have played recently, the running Dybala does in this system and the lack of viable rotation options in the formation. Would have been a good opportunity to give Kean some minutes.

At 3-0 he should have just took them off and taken it easy. Hopefully Higuain and Dybala are fresh for Porto

Pffft, the lads are playing on Wednesday, they have 5 days of rest/preparation before the match so I doubt they'll be panting.... You more or less WANT them to play a good match together so they go in match fit, on form and confident! Best to have them both in the zone. That last goal especially was crucial to BOTH.

3 points and players 6 starters rested for the Porto game, so job welldone today.

Now comes the big test. I hope he keeps going with the 4-2-3-1.

This. 5 days is plenty of time for them to recover in time for Porto.

You could only make that argument if Dybala or Higuain pulled up with an injurt after this game.

This system change has masked our weakness(i.e our midfield) and playing to what is our strength right now (offensive power. Funny ain't it ?).
Everytime when Allegri was pushed back(and this is when I felt Allegri will go fully pussy mode and field defensive/conservative formations), he's come back with surprising/encouraging decisions which you normally wouldn't expect from him and this has thankfully majorly impacted the team.
Regardless of what happens in the remainder of the season, I'm really happy he's made some courageous choices much to the benefit of the team and once again has instilled hope that this team can bounce back and go on to achieve greater things potentially. I really hope we stick with the 4-2-3-1 until the end of the season.
