i want us to play the lopsided 352 vs. bayern.

gonna try to keep it short, no Stephenie Meyer novel.

we simply look comfortable playing it, and finally having players like Alex Sandro and Cuadrado made it work even better. most of all Pereyra isn't in form and shouldn't be a starter anyway, especially not against a team like bayern.

also 352 allows us to field our strongest 11 imo. in a 4312 we'd have to field either a makeshift AM, or an out of form Pereyra. give me a worldclass AM and we can talk.

coming from a former 352 hater.

Give me 2 WC wingbacks then we can talk 352
Cuadrado is a headless chicken..we look comfy at 352? Which opponent are u referring to Bayern or practice matches also known as serie A games?
If we go 352 we got to go forward, we get beaten om wings, If we stay back and counter what is the point of 352 then when we can't play a possession game? I'd rather call it 532 with licht and evra to defend, and the 3 mids and forwards being more agressive with marchisio plugging holes..If the wingbacks go forward we are done period.

LMAO Alex Sandro is WC and Licht is great to balance things out.
we will NEVER start a Evra/Licht combination in a 352.
in serie A maybe, but not against bayern.

also 352 with Alex Sandro, Dybala, Pogba and Cuadrado (coming on as sub)
makes it prolly a better counter formation than our 4312 with WC pereyra
playing behind the strikers.

dont talk to me like i started watching football like 1 day ago.
explain it to your sis if you feel like it, i don't need it.

:ghey: get out you tactical peasant.

on a serious note,
the most important thing is gonna be to approach the match in the right way.
no matter what system we are going to play.

if we go for the 1:0 win, we will get pinned back and prolly lose.
we have to go out there trying to win it from the very beginning.

Allegri Making the Most of Juventus' Golden Bench
by James Horncastle for Whoscored at Wednesday, Mar 9 2016 10:35

On Monday Max Allegri was in Florence for Italy’s Coach of the Year awards. “I voted for Stefano Pioli,” he revealed. “But I was undecided. I thought about voting for Roberto Donadoni too.” Once the ballots were closed, however, Allegri was declared the winner. He received 52% of the vote. Pioli and Maurizio Sarri were the runners’ up.

It was the second time Allegri has been recognised by his peers. The last time was seven years ago when the job he’d done in his first season at Cagliari was considered better than Jose Mourinho’s at Inter. The Special One won it a year later after completing an unprecedented treble and the reason Allegri picked up the prize again this week is because he came so close to replicating that achievement with Juventus last season.

The Coach of the Year award in Italy goes by the name of the Panchina d’Oro: The Golden Bench. To look at, it has more in common with the ones you see in a park rather than at a football ground. Cheekily Tuttosport felt Allegri deserved it already in October. Not on coaching merit, but in a figurative sense because he was leaving Juventus’ €32m Golden Boy Paulo Dybala out of the starting XI too much for their liking.

Allegri believed Dybala needed to bulk up, learn a new position and the Juventus mentality. The fans just needed to be patient. Allegri promised them that it would be worth the wait and hasn’t it just. Dybala’s apprenticeship has been quicker than Alvaro Morata’s a year ago and he has exceeded expectations, scoring 17 goals and laying on eight assists in all competitions.

Dybala spends a lot less time on the bench these days. However it has not lost its golden glint. If Juventus do win a fifth straight Scudetto, their strength in depth will be one of the principal factors particularly in a season when they have had more than 40 injuries.

The BBC had Martin Caceres as cover before he tore his Achilles and was ruled out for the rest of the season. They’re also backed up by Daniele Rugani, a player widely recognised as the future of Italy’s defence. Alex Sandro provides serious competition for Patrice Evra’s place. Juan Cuadrado offers something different to Stephane Lichtsteiner.

The midfield can afford one injury. Two’s plenty. But Stefano Sturaro fills in well. The much-maligned Hernanes has attracted ridicule, but also a reappraisal of his merits after better than expected displays away to Man City and at home to Bayern in the Champions League. Then there is Kwadwo Asamoah and Mario Lemina. Up front Dybala and Mario Mandzukic are pushed by Simone Zaza and Morata.

Now it’s one thing having all this depth. Using it effectively is another entirely and this is another fine facet to Allegri’s coaching where he distinguishes himself as outstanding in his field. Consistently he has revealed himself to be incredibly astute at reading the game, assessing exactly what is required and taking the right action to affect the game from the bench. Since Allegri became coach of the Old Lady 18 months ago, 25 of her league goals have arrived from his substitutions. To elaborate further, 14 have been scored and 11 were assisted by players who came on. That is a quite remarkable total and it has played a big role in making Juventus contenders again this season.

The turning point in their campaign is widely regard as the defeat to Sassuolo and the dramatic late victory in the Derby della Mole that followed. Allegri brought on Alex Sandro for Dybala in the 87th minute. He then set up Juan Cuadrado in stoppage time for a momentum shifting and mood-changing winner. Juventus haven’t looked back since taking 52 points from the 54 available.

However, Allegri’s ability to turn a game with his changes has perhaps never been more pronounced than in the last month. Zaza is arguably the symbol of them. He has come off the bench and hit the net three times in the league this season. The most important - and without doubt the pivotal moment in the title race up until now - was his 88th minute strike against Napoli in Turin which clinched a huge win and sent Juventus top of the table for the first time this season. The Old Lady’s Super Sub was averaging a goal every 79 minutes at the time.

Allegri then did it again to rescue Juventus’ Round of 16 tie with Bayern. 2-0 down at home, he sent on Morata and Sturaro and they combined for the equaliser. On Sunday even the lesser-spotted Lemina got in on the act. He replaced Sami Khedira in Bergamo and scored an excellent solo goal that put Atalanta definitively to the sword, the perfect response to Napoli returning to winning ways against Chievo the night before.

Allegri downplays his knack for reading the tea leaves of a football match. He admits luck is involved. But when it happens so often, it speaks to his intelligence, intuition and a trust of one’s gut. Tactical shrewdness and instruction aside, you have to credit Allegri’s man-management too. It’s not easy to keep players on the periphery happy and motivated.

And yet more or less every time he looks to the bench and tells a player to warm up, they do so with the intention of giving him 110% and making the difference. That’s the mentality Juventus have restored in this winning cycle and continue to pass onto new recruits. They have a Golden Bench, but if it glitters it’s because Allegri doesn’t half burnish it

Allegri: 'This is my time'
By Football Italia staff

Juventus Coach Max Allegri reveals his relationship with Milan President Silvio Berlusconi and looks back on his 'mistakes'.

The tactician is currently dominating Serie A with Juventus, but in an interview with GQ Italia he discussed the rocky path that led him where he is.

“I listened to advice, but then I did as I believed was right,” Allegri said. “I'm not always correct and I don't always say the right things ,but it would be really boring if I were like that.

“I made a lot of mistakes in life and nobody would have bet their money on me. 'You'd do best to bet on horses instead, he's the type of guy that abandoned his wife on the altar', they said of me.

“But they know I come from Livorno, so I am what they call a 'reef', in the sense that I'm really hard. I'm happy to have made some mistakes. I paid for them, but they allowed me to mature.

“I always had a good relationship with Berlusconi. People told a lot of stories and made up ploys. He's a nice guy, but of course we had to part ways when results were poor.

“When they sacked me, it was [joint CEO Adriano] Galliani who told me. The President called me the next day.

“I'm not superstitious but I do believe in positivity. An example of a very superstitious man is [former Cagliari owner Massimo] Cellino. His favourite number was 23, so he used to go crazy over the Argentine [Joaquin] Larrivey.

“He made the player wear that number, and when Larrivey scored in a game alongside [Alessandro] Matri, whose number was the mirror opposite '23', Cellino was ecstatic.”

Allegri then discussed Napoli-Juventus, one of the most crucial games of the season, won by the Bianconeri by 1-0.

“Everybody was preparing my funeral, but they had to rethink that. I told myself, 'now I'll start having fun'.

“I bear no grudges. In football everybody is a professor and talks about tactics and formations. But in this sport there have been no novelties ever since they outlawed the pass back to the goalkeeper. Everything else is just talk.

Allegri: 'Mandzukic too generous'
By Football Italia staff

Max Allegri gave Mario Mandzukic advice after Juventus beat Sassuolo and outlined his Bayern Munich approach.

The Bianconeri surprisingly opted for a 3-5-2 formation in their 1-0 victory over Sassuolo.

“We played with three at the back to have a different development going forward. We started well, but Sassuolo play some beautiful football and naturally created chances,” Allegri told Sky Sport Italia.

“We really wanted to win and when we didn’t take the opportunities to make it 2-0, we started to struggle a little and the fear set in we wouldn’t get the victory.”

Gigi Buffon surpassed Dino Zoff’s tally of 903 minutes and is now only four minutes away from beating Sebastiano Rossi’s all-time Serie A unbeaten record.

“I think Gigi deserves this record, of course he needs another four minutes in the derby. It’d be wonderful if the game stopped for a round of applause, but it’s the derby and we need to play it first.

“We have to stay sharp and wide awake. The lads are doing well, I can only compliment them on their attitude, though we have to improve a lot in terms of performance.”

Mandzukic tracked back constantly, but this affected his ability to finish chances and he limped off exhausted in the final minutes.

“This generosity unfortunately means he can find himself in areas of the pitch where we can’t find him going forward. He needs to measure out the effort so he can be sharper when it comes to finishing.

“Daniele Rugani did well and after the Coppa Italia game against Inter he was attacked by the media, so risked falling into the background, but I saw this was the right match for him to make his mark.”

Juve visit Bayern Munich on Wednesday, having drawn the first leg of the Champions League tie 2-2.

“When facing Bayern you know that it’s difficult to pressure them for 90 minutes. So you must be sharp defending when necessary and then hit them in their weak spots.

“We saw this week Borussia Dortmund had a great game for an hour, then got pinned back by Bayern.

“We want to reach the next round, it won’t be easy, but we’ll need a very balanced match.”

Will they start 3-5-2 in Germany and defend before pouring forward at the end?

“We could do it the other way round, pour forward in the first half and then defend the result after. I think if we can control the ball and hit their weak points, we can do real damage.

“If Bayern have the ball, we need to defend well and have a great mental strength to stay in the game to the end.

“Will Giorgio Chiellini make it for Munich? I don’t know. He hasn’t trained with the team yet and if he doesn’t start soon then he won’t be ready.”
Max :delpiero:

damn it, Chiello is needed in a 352. Robben would kill Rugani.

Thats a given. They will go out to destroy our morale with pressing just like the last time. We need to make them think twice about going all in. The only way i see it is with quick switches when we get the ball to scare them early....Morata and Peryra are very good on this but sadly they are off form. Still.. i would gamble it..... as i see no point in trying to withstand their game.

We threw the tie in the first leg...and we will have to do an unreal game to go thru. I would give it a go, as we saw we can hurt them if we really try.
last time, if munchen really destroyed our morale, we would not able to come back.

They did in the first half. We looked like a shadow of ourselves.

Im still not very sure if the second half comeback was because we upped our game or because they got relaxed/tired and stopped their original plan.

But a repeat of that intensity in teh upcoming first half will bury us. We need to have a plan for it this time or is GG

It was probably a little of both last time..like u already said we need to die with boots on..if they score we are done. we need to make sure we put fear into them so they can't just swarm forward..they rested Vidal and Costa and I think Muller played like 15 mins against Bremen but overall I believe we can tire them out second half..

I think you mix your feeling and hope as a fan when we down by two goals with morale condition of our player ,aren't you?

I know most of us already thought "it is over" when we down by two goals.
But our player has great character. Even buffon himself said this team has better character than previous year
I disagree what bayern did in first 60 monutes destroyed our morale.

I agree we were not ourselves in the first half. But it does not mean bayern destroyed the morale of our player.

And of course i agree we should do better in the first 60 minutes at j stadium. But i do not think it's about intensity.
Better to attack them with high intensity in the last 30 minutes after bayern lost their concentration due to press with full intensity for 60 minutes.

In the first 60 minutes at alianz arena, we have to defend better than we did in the first 60 minutes at juventus stadium.

If we do it, we will have great opportunity to win against bayern.
