Against bayern we should play 4312 with pereyra in the 10. When bayern turned into the back 3 of kimmich vidal alaba we should have pressed the hell out of them, so by having pereyra allows us to have that early pressing strategy.

It's not only that. IN CL you can't just leave Dybala and Mandzukic upfront to hope they manage to pull something off. It works in shitty Serie A but Bayern having their CBs back will close those two easily. Other than that when we play 2 man attack we lack a link between midfield and attack. Pereyra is very useful because he plays in the middle but also drops to wings, so we'd have another man upfront to move the ball forward. Otherwise we're just packed in defence but we can't get out of our box/half. It's all about a long pass to Mandzukic/Dybala and this won't work.

Our midfield has to finally show up and we need the diamond to have some options to play forward.

We need better FBs then, at least Sandro instead of Evra, otherwise it's just a flat formation where we'll struggle to break through. But never gonna happen imho.

- pereyra still looked out of shape, i wouldn't rely on him when there's so much on stake. just like we played vidal last year as a false trequartista, i'd play sturaro, he's a fucking beast when it comes to big matches.
- it was my desired formation, but i have to admit that our 4-4-2 lacks midfield presence. we definitely need 3 midfielders on the field.
- i'd go with either a 3-5-2 with sandro and licht or with a diamond with sturaro. but let's beat sassuolo first. scudetto > cl for me this season.

352 means we have to press keep line high etc do we want this away at Bayern? It could backfire. The way we played in first leg didn't make much sense either, using pogba and cuadrado to double up on the wings as a result they were forced to stay wide, took them out of their position plus or as a result, we didnt have the potency in attack to pin them back which is what we wanted with their weak CBs. Almost any other way of playing would have been better idk what he was going for but that 442 was an abomination. 4321 with Morata Dybala and also mandzu way in front? Sturaro, pogba in mid and marchisio acting as sweeper in front of the CBs. Need a change, need to be much better than the second half of the first leg.

i love allegri, he totally convinced me about his abilities, but this:

"The Champions League depends a lot on the draw."

just win the fucking group next time, damnit, and the draw should be easier.

To be fair with him, Morata fuked us against sevilla.

We will be pinned again, and hoofing balls to dybala and mandz who will be receiving them in the middle of the park with their backs against the bayern defense.

Play 4312, Sandro-Licht and Perayra in the hole, morata for the wild runs. Take the game on them and die with the boots on.

Theres no point in playing counters when we will field Pogba, Marchisio and Khedira.

Lets be real guys, we will get fuked anyways and deep inside you all know it....so we better go all in and try to make them aware of our presence instead of trying to withstand 35 -40 mins of punishment until we get 2 more goals AND then decide to try to win.

If we don't try to win the midfield battle (at least for some periods of the game) then we have no business looking for a positive result in Munich.

Thats a given. They will go out to destroy our morale with pressing just like the last time. We need to make them think twice about going all in. The only way i see it is with quick switches when we get the ball to scare them early....Morata and Peryra are very good on this but sadly they are off form. Still.. i would gamble it..... as i see no point in trying to withstand their game.

We threw the tie in the first leg...and we will have to do an unreal game to go thru. I would give it a go, as we saw we can hurt them if we really try.

Agreed need to take it to them but the key to this is pogba. As long as he is being played in the middle we are limited need him in attacking role. 4312 is the only way to go, with pogba in the one spot..need to be compact none of the long ball crap, the way they are organized we will get caught offside as they WILL press specially if we don't try to do it ourselves first. Short close passes, and yes switch constantly..Dybala need to constantly run in between channels to unshuffle the defence, the way to beat them is still through the middle.

Nah, the guy is a mess when put in attacking positions. Wants to do evetything alone and misjudges 90% of the plays. In this bayern game, a turnover because overextending a play or overdribbling WILL result in a goal for bayern. He can have that luxury against Atalanta...but Bayern will murder us.

He will serve better recovering the ball and controlling it in the very tight space we will have to operate on our side of the field.... and try to transition our attack to the forwards.

There is many luxuries we have in serie A which we don't in CL this is clear (although some people here still think 352 against atalanta operates the same way as in CL against BM) the problem is if we play through the middle of the field we have nobody that can keep the ball deep then pick out open spaces to pass, pogba or anyone else will NOT be given space or time.. pogba is useless in the mid the way he has been utilized, might as well bench him and play asamoah..it's nonsense. we cant play possession game our only option is counter..
At least with pogba behind the forwards thier defence gets overwhelmed you put pereyra or anyone else in there he won't have the same impact. Cant shoot, has no strength/ height or technique etc..
Any way we play, our rough pressing need to start at 3/4, we need to sweat blood running, and our CBS need to keep line at 1/4 otherwise it's 0-2 first half. Cant get pinned back too much, cant rely on counter game too much either..Marchisio fitness is key to our closing gaps not pogba who still doesn't have a clear role.
