won the league with Man City at the time Man Utd were dominating, and won the league with Inter, even if it was a depleted Serie A. Not to mention his intial run with Lazio was pretty good, and he's doing pretty well with Inter again in his 2nd run.

Seems to be Mancini can deliver the good in the league

Oh come on. Overall the league was weaker with Conte but the challenge at the top was absolutely zero for Mancini's Inter post-Calciopoli. Conte had to overhaul a Milan team with Zlatan and Thiago Silva, with a team rock bottom.

Not sure about that.Especially Conte's first year.Milan were much better than we were.Thiago Silva/Ibra/Pato/Robinho were a much better team than we had.It was Milan's title that they losed from us.So maybe Serie A was weaker but Milan were stronger than us at that time.

Not taking anything of Conte's achievement. Might want to look at the injuries milan was carrying while in 3 competitions.

You are judging on two vastly different expectations on them. Mancini from Lazio to Fiorentina to changing to top teams, has done well mostly in his task, not revolutionary or top coach level, but improved most of his teams and advanced his career because of it. Ventura is a small team expert and nothing more, has not shown anything like Mancini's career has, and its for a reason. Montella I would generally take over Mancini, but he needs to show he can coach a top team like Mancini has, despite the mixed results. Closest Montella has gotten is half a year in Roma and thats it, and they arent even a real top team for me. The fact they arent getting these gigs Mancini is getting should be telling in itself. And us viewers are more likely to scrutinize and be dissapointed in Mancini's coaching because expect MORE for someone who coached in top level for over a decade. While, honestly, what do you expect of Ventura? To survive and stay in midtable at best. While Montella is still a coach in progress, I very much liked his experiment in Viola, did well until he lost the plot a bit. He needs a top gig to showcase himself for real.

I am judging him only on one level.With top team and unlimited sources like he had at City he had done almost nothing except that one title which was luckily won at extra time.I think that a real top coach at his place at City will achieved much more.I agree with you that it's not incidental that he got big teams job.Quite strange for me also as I never rate him much but probably football experts know more than I do because they hire and pay him.
Maye also you are right about Ventura having in mind his career.But what if he had luck to be coach at some top team?Maybe he will be fired after 3 months and maybe will win something .That we will never know.See for example Benitez.Won one CL with Lpool very lucky and suddenly he is constantly a top coach.Now Coaching Real.I can't believe that.Sometimes you need also a luck in your life and Mancini had it a lot.
Anyway maybe I am biased cause I can't stand him but for me he is no near to a top coach.

You have to consider whole body of work. Benitez best in a Valencia for me, and early Liverpool. Since then he has been mediocre, but his reputation is from his early high point in his career. He got the Real job really because that's were he started and Perez wants a local hardworking type after the messy strong star personality coaches.


Mancini all things considered have some won league titles and several league cups, you aren't being fair to him you don't acknowledge his core achievements in his work. He is limited if you compare him to top coaches, but you are comparing him to ones who haven't even shown anything in top top level. Many upstart coaches have gotten chances for top teams and weren't good enough, or never did get a chance because they didn't show enough.

Allegri developing some premises to the team:

- Barzagli must play;

- Midfield needs experience, and Pogba can't lead yet;

- Cuadrado must play;

- Morata must play, mostly as a CF.

As long as he keeps these premises, the team should develop. I'm glad he found them.

To me Dybala needs to play, always, as Mandzukic takes Morata out of place, and the team loses in too different positions (Dybala > Morata as a SS, Morata > Mandzukic as a CF).

Barzagli did well sometimes as a RB, surprisingly. But obviously can't be a starter there.

I'd go with 352, Dybala-Morata upfront, Cuadrado-Sandro wingbacks, Khedira/Marchisio, at least one of them, always playing in the midfield with Pogba.

I said after Juve lost their first couple of games that I felt only limited blame could be attached to Allegri due to how late in the window the squad was assembled, but that I'd exect to see signs of the team coming together by the next international break. He's pretty much on schedule to do that.

I'm interested to see how things will develop with Morata and Dybala. They did a lot of good things against Sevilla, but there were a number of occasions where I felt Juve had no-one anywhere near the centre-forward position when they should have been.

With the reasonable prospect of Cuadrado beating his man and delivering a cross at any time, I do think you need someone to always be thinking as a conventional centre-forward.

That's not to say they must always remain fixed up against the centre-halves in the way Mandzukic would be, but I'd look for both Morata and Dybala to try and spend a bit more time occupying orthodox goal-scoring positions, rather than floating around quite so much.

I agree.

But Dybala and Morata had no other option but to float back, because they had to occupy the space that was normally of Pogba. Because Pogba had to have a more conservative approach (good decision by Allegri), there wasn't anyone to really link midfield and attack, so they had to drop deeper to do it.

With Marchisio back and maybe with Khedira established, hopefully Pogba will go back to his more offensive role and fill in that position, allowing Morata and Dybala to stay in more forward areas.

Pretty certain that once that Morata-Dybala/Man-Cuadrado gells, and Pogby has Marchisio and Khedira behind him, he'll explode so hard, i'm going to have huge arguments at the end of the season, because people will forget how bad Pogba started, cause of how excellent he was afterwards

I really like the 3-5-2/4-3-3 hybrid with Barza as Rb and Cuadrado higher on the wing with no real left winger. Seems like it worked pretty well against Sevialla and I think when Sandro is on he can cover the left flank well by himself and Pogba drifting that way
