not sure about that.
maybe not scared, but he just does not want to do it again.

i’m also in the sturaro/pereyra camp.
pirlo is done.

inbefore...

"he may have on or two great passes in him" arguments.

i’ll give you that.

but is it worth it to carry this defensive liability for
90 minutes?

he creates goal scoring chances on both sides of the pitch...
he isnt that much of a defensive liability. he covers a lot of ground himself and is only dangerous when he loses the ball infront of our box. since he doesent play and dribble as much with the ball as he did under Conte, he is much less of a liabilty. if he makes quick passes and gets himself into free spaces often, im sure we will have no problem with Pirlo starting

with claudio in his spot we play faster, more direct and
are pretty solid on counter attacks.

pirlo covers ground yes, but he is noway near of marchisio defensive wise.
and he does lose the ball often enough passing the ball straight into
an opponent...and then watch him jogging back without being able to catch
up...

i’ll be sweating everytime pirlos got the ball...

1. with the team we will play against, it doesn't matter where he could lose the ball, too dangerous
2. amazingly our other midfielders are also often lose the ball or passing the ball badly that ended up in counters, with the fact that they are usually much further in the pitch than pirlo that leave us with pirlo who is defensively bad being the closest to the ball and become our last midfielder before our defense in such counter against us, pretty sure in such situation we can all agree that player like marchisio is better than pirlo, isn't it?
3. again you neglect the fact barca is one of few teams in the world that can press effectively as a team and thus may or actually will lead to such scenarios above.

i wouldnt :D

the key is to get him good passing opportuinites so he can pull a quick pass as soon as he gets the ball. i think our play will not go through Pirlo at all. with Barcelona pressing, there is not much space to play a slow passing game on our side of the field. i think we will try to get the ball to Tevez/Morata as fast as possible and try to get a quick attack and then get back into position. defensively, Vidal is dropping back deep and is helping covering the space with Pirlo. Marchisio and Pogba can further tighten our central area if needed + Tevez droping back deep will make it much easier for our CMs...

he will not lose the ball anywhere if he gets good passing opportunities. Allegri got this

do you think our other 3 CMs will all go to their half and leave Pirlo with the ball alone? wtf where you watching all season?

Barcelona will have the ball most of the time. when we got it, it will be quick attacks. we arent stupid to play against Barcelona the same way we do against random serie A clubs

if he starts the game, hell will do so because Allegri thinks its better to play him than Pereyra/Sturaro. not because hes scared to bench him or other ridiculous reasons
It also gives the signal to Barcelona that we are not scared of them. If we leave out Pirlo that comes across as burying ourselves and focusing solely on defending. If we field Pirlo, they know we won't do anything of the sort.

I'm not sure I could take that logic; for me, playing pirlo mean like a boxer who put a sign "punch me here" on his weak spot, nothing to do with my courage or bending over to the opponent

Besides if by not playing pirlo we could actually counter attack better, that would simply destroys that logic

Pirlo is Pirlo. The guy has a deserved reputation of being an.all-time football legend. He'll play and it will because of what he adds to our team not just in experience but also in our play.

The thing is with Pirlo we have that weakness when in possession, with barca we won't have that much possession anyway so it doesn't harm to have him play. Plus, he can send those passes behind their lines that will leave Busquets and co. wondering what happened.

but he won't track back, and Pirlo is sometimes a little "too composed" in that he dwells on the ball and gets tackled in dangerous areas. MSN don't need a second chance, though to be honest I'm just as worried about Cheilini then I'm with Pirlo at the moment. As amazing as Cheilini is, he's been tending to do some of the silliest mistakes time and time again
