In Allegri We Trust

I think its on par with Milan or Inter's squad yes. I'd say inter's current squad is actually better. They have a very good squad.

And no one on this forum thought we could finish first or second. We all hoped for a top 3 finish and considered that an achievement given the squad.
That's absurd. Current Inter's team is at least few levels bellow, and at most on par with Juve's team that finished 7th twice in a row. Now what you fail to notice is tremendous improvement in personnel that occured during single transfer window, basically the team that had Grygera and Grosso as starting fullbacks, Aquilani in the middle, Amauri in attack, managed to fix most of its issues by acquiring services of vastly superior players for those spots, consequently making Scudetto challenge realistic objective. That being said Conte did his part superbly, instilling the winning mentality and keeping the team motivated throughout the season.

Allegri definitely had the much superior squad. He didnt have to rejuvenate anyone or discover the hidden talent of any future stars. He also came off the back of a campaign where he already won the league and so his team was gelled and stable. He had a strong 1st 11 and some depth too. His team was good both in Europe and in Italy.

Conte had to work with freebies that nobody wanted and vidal in a team without confidence, and without any winning experience. There was no mega-spending no expectation by the fans nothing. We were already accustomed to failure and were hoping that we could get a sniff at CL football. Enter Conte and Pirlo starts suddenly playing at his best and the whole team goes on a full season undefeated. The very next season we retain the title and have a very impressive CL campaign. This is nothing short of a miracle. And if anyone here want to go back and check the opinions of the same members who are hating now 2-3 years ago on the forum he'd see how much their memory is damaged. If I wasnt lazy id have looked up the bookies' odds from back then of us finishing 3rd let alone us finishing 1st undefeated. The butthurt started in Galatasaray and was magnified when he left.
Let's see those two teams for an instance, Juve vs Milan in 2011/12:

Buffon
Licht-Barza-Bonucci-Chiello
Vidal-Pirlo-Marchisio
Pepe-Matri-Vucinic

vs

Abbiati
Abate-Nesta-Silva-Antonini
Nocerino-Van Bommel-Seedorf (Urby)
Boateng
Robinho-Ibra

But let's not take into consideration that we signed Licht, who was one of the best FB's in Italy, that Vidal was coming off a great season in Germany, or that Vucinic was massive improvement in our attack and immediately commanded starting spot at DP's expense. Or Pirlo's still WC abilites. Yeah, if we disregard all those trifles then Conte definitely won Scudetto with mediocre team, apparently relegation-battlers according to you.

From Conte's first year to Allegri's first year, I don't think there's any doubt about the claim of Allegri having the superior squad, at least that's how I read Hist's post.

Edit: And I read it wrong. Thought he compared Conte's Juve to Allegri's, but it seems to be Conte's first year at Juve with Allegri's last year at Milan.
Yeah conte's 1st juve squad to allegris Milan.

If you do want to compare allegri's juve to conte's last juve I'd say allegri has the better squad given the added depth players and that no one of any importance has left.

But in terms of form I think Conte's was better. This year it's almost as if we are playing completely without pirlo and Vidal. These two were the two key players in conte's juve and they are barely adding anything to allegris juve. Even our key defender is injured.

We didn't feel their losses very much because pogba has grown some more, marchisio returned to his form from the 2012 season and Tevez is being his reliable self. We also saw a huge decline in our only competitor Roma.

Lorente was never a key player. his goals became important only when tevez was too worn out. If morata can have a strong close to the season then that would be great.

I think the declined and injured players slightly outweigh the improved and new players but not enough to have any real noticeable reflection on performance. I think this squad is not close to playing to its full potential. Just imagine if pirlo Lorente and Vidal hit form and barzagli comes back in a good condition. We would dominate serie A like last season and we would have brushed the likes of olympiakos and Dortmund aside.

you named Pirlo and Vidal (and Llorente i guess) but you forgot the injured players which is also important. Barzagli didnt play at all this season, Asamoah missing more than half the season so far. Caceres was injured last season too so he probably shouldnt count but Barzagli and Asamoah were starters and key players for us before Allegri took over. also, Pirlo wasnt as important last year as he was the 1st two years under Conte (except for a few FKs he didnt have any notable performances) so his drop in form shouldnt be used as an example either

but i agree with Zach. this comparing of coaches has to stop. we had a wonderful time under Conte, won 3 scudetti, had one good and one bad year in Europe but now hes gone. we shouldnt look back and focus on what we have now. so far Allegri is doing an excellent job despite this being his 1st year here and having some problems like injuries, drop in form of our best player and implementing a new system. we should leave it at that
