Recall how we played during Conte's first two seasons both in Serie A and in Europe in the second season. We were out to kill our opponents. Confidence was high, we were fearless and we were always confident that we can get the job done. We even had that winning mentality in the build up to the bayern match and as fans we all thought that we had a good chance to progress. After they schooled us we lost that winning mentality in Europe and Conte failed to resurrect it. The only time when we came close was against madrid but we threw away all the good work in that match. After our exit, the fans and Conte himself was broken and the pressure got to him and to the squad.

With this squad, a Juve firing on all cylinders should play in Europe with the attitude of 2012 and should be confident about reaching the semi-final unless we get tough opposition like Bayern, Madrid, Barca or this year's Chelsea at an earlier stage.

The arrogance I am speaking of is not complacency, it is authority on the field, high focus at the back and energy in the midfield. A determination and momentum in winning regardless of opposition.

I agree with all of this dude. I was just debating the fact that we don't have that "arrogance" (let's call it like this) even in Italy

I really like Allegri tbh. I remember watching his declining Milan teams fare very well against Barcelona. The man knows how to compete in Europe. Its hard to criticize him for what happened in Milan. His team in a span of a year or two lost Ibra, T.Silva, all their veterans who kept the winning culture there (Van Bommel, Ambrosini, Gattuso, Zambrotta, Seedorf, Nesta, Boateng), and other talent (Pato, Cassano).

He managed to get a third place finish, aided by the acquisition of Balotelli at the expense of a budding Stephan El Shaarawy who had carried the team through the first half of the year. The following year, Balotelli's true colours came out, El Shaarawy got hurt, Kaka was cacca, and Robinho just sat there with a $#@!-eating grin on his face collecting his wages.

For a coach, that's got to feel like his team just got hit by a hurricane.

Maybe he was preparing for this job when he gave us on a plate our first scudetto under Conte when Milan lost at home from Fiorentina by Amauri's late goal which was decisive for that first title of Conte .Anyway when he was appointed I wasn't happy, now I admire him a lot.

All of those teams were weaker than us, even Madrid and La Liga was nothing in the mid 90s. Knockout or not, Gala knocked us out.

I think people forget how different that Juve team was that lost to Bayern. Our attack was atrocious compared to what it is now. If we add a true elite attacking midfielder, our 4-3-2-1 will be elite. It is already very good right now. My only criticism with the current personnel, other than the lack of a CAM is Llorente at center forward, who I don't believe is ideal for the formation. He's too much of a target man, while we could use a complete forward type, which is why I think we're obsessed with Falcao. I honestly think we missed a huge opportunity with Mandzukic given his finishing, aerial ability, defensive presence and mobility.

Wesley Sneijder would be a great short term solution, the fact that he is cup-tied really taints the opportunity.

I disagree with the part in bold. Against Oly and Madrid we played with great fighting spirit but also with great nervousness. They are more resembling Gala home game in that we fought hard but gaveaway a lot of gifts that cost us in all but the 3-2 win that we almost drew despite dominating them. Chelsea both home and away, Celtic home and away and shakhtar away are our best performances in my opinion.

Having said that I am glad we are playing Dortmund as it could have been much worse. They are in their worst form and on paper we were always better than them. Their confidence is gone. I'd say the odds are 70:30 that we will go through to the next round where I hope we meet Barca at the very worst.

Weaker than us means nothing, our team's always been top notch. In 2013 if we played head to head two matches in a row against Gala we wouldn't have lost I think, even with all the problems that came (delay, tireness, no hotel, time change, no fans, bad pitch, exc.).
