There is always a language barrier for every foreign coach, unless he spent significant amount of time in Italy, whether as a player or is fluent for some other reason. We don't need a coach that will need a translator standing beside him, that would be disastrous. Imagine that kind of guy holding preparations before the game, or during the course of the game giving them instructions. Not feasible. Milan learned that lesson rather well.

The news come that Honda arrived. He has to go out and meet him. It's his job as a coach. A handshake. He knows that he won't get to coach this player. "Hi, how are you?". What else can he say to Honda who seems even more lost than him? He won't say anything else. They'll only stare at each other for 5 seconds. The silence is so awkward. He has to say something with all those cameras around. But lets first stare at Honda for 5 more seconds. Ok, it's time to say something...
"Are you happy?"
"Yes, very appy"
Silence again. Lets stare at each other again and smile.
I'll remember him mostly for this episode, because I felt so sorry for him back then.

So what's the point in saying it? A foreign coach is not the answer all the time just as an italian coach is not an answer all the time. However, when you look at a coach amongst Italians and foreigners you would see yourself looking at a wider variety with more options for succes whereas when you limit your searching to Italian managers your selection decreases automatically.
